MOTHER'S DAY...
It occurs to me just because women are "blessed" (in my opinion) with children, does not neccessarily mean this is a great day for all. I now know there are some whose kids are distant and cold---others whose kids just use them for all that they can get--- some who have not spoken to them in years.
Then I think of those like myself--- who wanted so badly to be a mom and be able to do all for their child that was not done for them...to make sure each child knows they are loved, wanted and special. (After all, isn't that why God did put us here? To procreate? I have wondered what I did to have that right be taken from me) After all this time, it has occurred to me that this was yet another piece of my puzzle. While still at home trying to care for 2 who both suffered from addictions, 3 new families would move into our neighborhood. I would soon babysit and spend alot of time with the kids (who , in my opinion were sometimes emotionally neglected.) They would soak up the love , encouragement and attention. It was good for all involved. Now , though I have none of my own, I am always quick to let a little one (hell, some of us older ones too) know that regardless of what we felt or were told--- we are all special and loved.
For others like myself who wonder what our purpose is for being here--- I believe our hunger to nurture and love a child does get transferred to perhaps another's child or a parent, spouse or sibling. It makes us more compassionate and nurturing toward them.
For those who feel sad and empty since their mothers are already gone... or for those who have outlived a child (and this twists a knife as they can't spend their day with them ever again)--- may they be able to hold them close in their heart with memories they did share together.
And for those of you who are as proud as can be because of who ( and how) your kids turned out--- may you be able to celebrate and know that this is because of the love and compassion you have shown them throughout their years.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL OF US. Because of the love and compassion we were shown, did we also find that in ourselves to share with others.

You are an incredibly beautiful soul.
Very sweet. Hugs Kim.
You are an amazing person Kim and I know all those that you have cared for were blessed to have you in their lives.
Those of us here are blessed to have you as a friend!
Hugs, Kim
Thank you all. :)
Kim, that was a beautiful post. My wife did not have a birth mom. She gave her up for adoption when she was 2. Her grand=parents adopted her so she wouldn't go to a stranger. Her mom was married 5 or 6 times, had 3 other children whose lives are all screwed up due to her lifestyle. My wife is so thankful her grandparents raised her instead of her birth mom. I am not a mom but, I am a dad who buried a son when he was 37. I praise those moms who had children and raised them right and for those who have taken the place of moms where situations deemed it, as well. You are a compassionate a caring person Kim Thanks so much for this post.
Great post Kim..thank you
