Morning Sickness

It's now day 11 of morning sickness and I've just had it.  I'm now on Zofran, it's an anti nauseau med used with chemo patients.  Well, I took it yesterday and 2 hours later (it's supposed to last 6 hours) I threw up.  The day before, I tried not to take a pill right away at the 6 hour mark, and I ended up going down this spiral that ended with me crying on the stairs, then dragging myself up to a shower, then dry heaving in the shower, then curling myself up in my bath robe to hunker down hoping that the nauseau will go away.

I do everything that they say to do, I'm taking B6 (or was it B12? I forget, I got the one they recommend). I'm drinking fresh ginger tea, eating gobs of saltine crackers, also I'm eating a combination of protein and sugar every 3 to 4 hours (per my doctor's recommendation).  My favorites are pancakes and yogurt although I've eaten so much yogurt, I'm not sure I'll be able to stomach it much longer.

If I keep at this same rate until week 12 (I'm currently week 7), I'm going to have to go to the loony bin.  To add insult to injury I can feel the IBS coming on this morning.  I thought I was being a baby about this all until I took the first zofran drug (which worked) and then realized how sick I really am.  Now that the zofran is no longer doing it for me...what next?  The girls on my pregnancy board were all "I'd rather have M/S than constipation" and I just about want to shoot them.  Am I really that much worse off than others?

Try sea bands. You wear them on your wrists. I found them at CVS pharmacy with the motion sickness stuff. They helped me. At least they dud somewhat. It\'s worth a shot.

I completely understand. I was sick constantly! My doctor said that Zofran would not work for me because of how bad my M/S was. He prescribed Zuplenz...it is a strip you put on your tongue and let dissolve. It works pretty much right away! It is supposed to last for 12 hours, but it usually wears off around 9 or 10...which is ok...I try to take it as late as I can so that I can be asleep when it wears off! I have also tried everything else and nothing worked. It is so hard to be sick all the time when you are a teacher! I worked out a system with my students that if I ran out of the room, one of them would go get the teacher next door to me. I understand about the yougurt...I have had a ton of it and am about sick of it! Hope you find something that helps!

Thank you, I just spoke with the RE and he asked me to go to the ER. Said I\'m past the point of return and I need to be rehydrated to start to feel some relief. The good news is that my sister went through this once and she said they just hook me up to an IV for a few hours and then send me on my way. Doesn\'t sound so bad...right?

I hope the IV works! And also hope yours goes away with time and does not last very much longer.

I hope that this doesn\'t last that long endo. So sorry you had to go to the ER as well. My sister went through this (although I\'ve had zero morning sickness), and was sick for quite a while. They ended up giving her another prescription that worked better than the Zofran. She also had a girl if that makes a difference. Once she hit the 12 week mark, it was like a magic switch went off......she was fine after that.
I hope that you find releif soon......its absolutely miserable when throwing up, and I hope you rid it soon!! Get those fluids into your body!!! Hugs to you!!!

I\'m so sorry your MS is so bad. It can be way worst for some than others and it seems you have it really bad. I hope your trip to the ER will help get you a little better. You really have to be carefull and make sure you tell your doc just how bad it is. Us IF girls don\'t like to complain and I\'m sure you are really happy to have gotten you BFP but make sure you don\'t play it down. Hope the 12th week brings you great relief.

I am so very sorry you are feeling so awful. I hope that the IV helps get you back on your feet and you find a solution that prevents it moving forward. Good luck and feel better soon!

Thank you! I\'m feeling sooooo much better today. It\'s been 2 days since the ER now and I can actually function! The girls on a HG board told me this can be short lived after getting extra fluids, but I hope they are wrong in my case.

It sounds like you had something similar to what Kate Middleton had. I\'m glad the ER was able to help. Chin up! Good things to come! I\'ve heard good things about those preggo pops they have that you suck on. I dunno. I never tried them, but my SIL said they were great.
