Morning Pinkness/Evening Fears
There seems to be something of a daily pattern to my rosacea at this point in my healing journey. Every morning, I wake up to hints of pinkness. This is usually and mostly on my cheeks, but can be on the chin and forehead at times. I think it's because I sleep under layers of blankets and get warm overnight... plus my head is down and I don't move much, so circulation might not be the greatest. The pinkness/blotchiness usually goes away in an hour or two, but it's kind of frustrating, as I always worry about tissue damage and/or if that morning pinkness will lead to a more pronounced reaction... though it usually doesn't.
Then in the evening time, about 1-2 hours before bed each night, I have anxiety crop up around my fears regarding my health condition. Some nights are milder than others, but a lot of the time I'm just reliving the trauma I went through when my condition was undsiagnosed and at its worst. I just can't quite seem to break that thought cycle. However, once I do fall asleep, I sleep deeply and well... so that's a plus.
Today I woke up a little stressed out. My hubby, Jeff, and I have a date to hang out and play cards with my parents and brother. Historically, my folks haven't been the most supportive of my health condition or the steps I need to take to properly manage it (medical diet, environmental trigger avoidance, etc.). It's like they're just waiting for me to go back to normal, or that they think it's all in my head... despite everything I've gone through in the past year, the information my doctor sent me home with, and the fact that they've seen pictures of me in a severe flare up. *sigh* I keep hoping understanding will emerge from them at some point. In the meantime, I guess it's a chance to practice patience and compassion.
