morning
I woke up at about 4 and tried to get back to sleep until 5 when I gave up!
Getting up early here is not really a hardship. Our condo is in the city so the sirens and horns are a constant companion during the day, and sometimes at night.
Our kitchen and living room windows face East, so I get to enjoy the peace and quiet; and magnificent sunrises! This morning was no exception. The colours went from dark blue to orange and pale yellow! When I woke, a few stars were visible, a welcome sight as the ambient light in the city blocks them out. At this moment, I feel at peace. I feel Lisa's presence.
Yesterday, we went on a day trip to Banff. Lena, our Ukrainian house guest hadn't been outside of Calgary so we decided it was time that she see the sights. We would have gone sooner but I was in Ontario for most of the summer. She was in awe of the beauty. We went up to a mountain top by gondola and watched the roaring waters of Bow River Falls. I loved seeing the look on her face.
We were telling her about the wildlife we have seen over the years. Elk, bears, mountain sheep and goats. There was not one to be seen until our drive home. By the side of the road were three mountain sheep - all 3 had big horns. What magnificent animals! It made her day. And it made ours to see her so happy!
As for our ill friends: Jack is still in the hospital. My neighbour Adriana and I are still sharing our dinners with Leslie (his fiance of 36 years) as she spends all day with him. I fear he will not be the same Jack again. Lynda is home and slowly healing. We go to visit Barb next weekend. I assume she is doing okay as I haven't heard otherwise.
I think the day in the fresh air helped a lot!
I just heard a siren. The city is waking and it is time for my second cup of coffee.
Wishing all a day filled with love and peace.

I could see that sunrise as you described it... lovely... I hate waking up so early, my early is usually 2 AM, then I get back to sleep between 4 and 5 !!! hate that..
Your trip sounded lovely, what a wonderful thing to share with your houseguest !
I'm an early riser too, but when I wake up at 4, I try so hard to go back to sleep. And like you, I usually end up lying there wide awake for an hour or so and then get up. Makes for a LONG day.
Banff is still on our bucket list!!! We won't make the trip for a couple more years though. We don't want to leave Maui for that long as he is aging and he has a harder time when I'm not with him. I'm his person. I'm sure Lena loved every moment of the outing and I know y'all enjoyed seeing it again through her eyes! Always a joy to watch someone else marvel at something you love! I'm SOOOO jelly!!!!!
Prayers and good mojo being sent for Jack, Leslie, Lynda and Barb. And for you and Adriana as you continue to be a beacon of LIGHT and a great friend to Leslie. It's really all about helping others isn't it? You and Joe do that well! Prayers too for Lena and her family (even the ones in Russia). OH how I hope to hear there is peace and this horrid war has ended.
Thanks for the update my dear friend.
Much LOVE always,
Teri
