more holiday treats, blanched veggies, yum//woman from dog rescue had heart surgery//

i'm at the library attempting to write on here.  having trouble with ds up north, but having trouble with other programs there as well.  who knows?

had last of easter treats last week, had a nestle's crunch bunny with whipped cream and target had treats for 75 percent off.  yay!  didn't find any at walmart or walgreens and the skinny is they put them away for next year and sell them stale.  all this crap with bad food is going too far.  when did it start?

had blanched asparagus at k's which i love.  After about 30 seconds, test for doneness. Remove one piece, dip it into the bowl of ice water, and taste. Keep tasting every 30-60 seconds until the vegetables are cooked to your liking. Most vegetables take between 2-5 minutes.
7. When the vegetables are done, quickly remove them from the boiling water with a slotted spoon and plunge them into the ice bath to stop the cooking process. (This is called "shocking.")
8. When the vegetables are completely cool, remove them from the ice bath and drain on the towel-lined plate.

its great as a before dinner salad.  along with ham and pork.  odd easter this year.  went for a walk to the marina with the js and a, they are doing work at the marina (and everywhere else around here it seems, perhaps to create jobs), but would love to be walking the dock area.  love the water.

went to the new italian place with j, shouldn't have bothered.  that is two in a row that wasn't good enough.  i generally try the chicken parm to see if i want to bother with the restaurant, with the second one, i didn't bother attempting it, as they only have the chicken in strips.  would expect that from fast food but not a restaurant.  grrrr.  so let me guess, its $20 worth of chicken strips, i doubt it.  the second place didn't even serve salad with the dinner.  remember when carrabas became like that.  we don't go there anymore either.  too much of a rip off.

went visiting other timeshares, as i'm still in search of a warm pool.  this pool was 90 degrees which is too warm, but still better than a pool that is 80 (84 is regulation water or you will get muscle cramps).  we'll see.

nothing else -- one of the kittens got out and freaked itself out.  must be a shock when never seen the outdoors.  lol.  lots of crying.  the dogs that we rescued easter sunday, the woman had heart surgery the following week, so it was just in time.  her son e-mailed.  wondered what the urgency was.  i noticed her hand was paralyzed, which k says is small strokes.  wonder if something should have been done that day?  she said she also had diabetes and epilepsy and i thought she was ill, but not headed for a hospital.  very sad.  she is staying with her parents and its another person whose PARENTS are healthier than they are.  it used to amaze me when that happens, now i'm getting used to it.  age means NOTHING.

still car shopping once per week.  if the places were open until 9, i could get more done, but they close early and having one day for all this isn't enough.  monthly holidays throw me off and not having 3 days off per week anymore, also throws me off.    also need to go to orthopedist as i'm way improved from the car accident but EVERYTHING still hurts.

going out into the sunshine to relax on the deck.

I always wondered what \"blanching\" meant. Thanks for the heads up!

We don\'t eat out much. Mostly for the reasons you said. Also because you don\'t ever really know what restaurants put in their food to make it tasty! Often they just load up on butter and lard, and off the wall stuff that is totally unhealthy. We love eating out, but keep it to a minimum! Hubby has kidney problems and I have to watch potassium. Can\'t do that in a restaurant. It\'s kind of a shame, I really do like a nice dinner out. Steak places are my favorite. Steak and Ale is big up here.

Do you guys still have \"Big Daddy\'s down there? That\'s where I spent most of my twenties. From happy hour to closing! LOL...memories...or what I can remember of them!!!

Sorry everything hurts. A nice warm sauna and pool would seem to be exactly what the doctor would order. Hope your soreness lightens up! xoxo

Omgoodness, that chocolate Nestle\'s crunch bunny sounds yummy. I didn\'t have any treats this year. :-( But I do remember last year after Mother\'s day CVS had all their boxed chocolates on sale for cheap! I was in heaven with my own whole box of chocolate.

I always enjoy hearing about your culinary choices. But it always makes me hungry.

So sorry everything still hurts from the wreck. Hope you feel better soon.

i remember steak and ale, i used to love it when i was really young because it was dark and sedate...we went back around 15 years ago i think near delaware. they have a LOT of steak places here, down south chuck\'s was the best one. they marinated everything and they had a great salad bar. don\'t remember a big daddy\'s. everything changes though, its a guarantee. lol.

yeah, the bunny was fabulous. have to remember to try cvs for chocolate. if i take the glucosamine combo i\'m okay but still not 100%. without the glucosamine, its total pain. really need to see an orthopedist or something similar.
