More boring medical stuff

I knew it was too good to last. Now I  have to go overnight on Tuesday for the more extensive test for sleep apnea.  I also have to schedule another pulmonary function test which is no big deal, I'm due for one.  I had a videostroboscopy on Thursday. It wasn't too bad but I'm not in any hurry to do it again. It's tough to deal with the gag reflex. (I feel sorry for the poor tech who has to deal with this all day.)The videostroboscopy disclosed one interesting thing though. It seems my vocal cords are completely open when I inhale... but close partially when I exhale. This is the reason I go around sounding like Darth Vader. They said that it is not typical for vocal cord dysfuntion which usually  causes problems when you inhale. It seems I can get air but have to work harder to get rid of it. The tech felt that it could be caused by neurological problems or the continued strain of all the coughing or atypical VCD. That might be why my O2 levels drop some. I see the ENT doc next week so I'll know more then. I'm becoming far too familiar with medical procedures and terminology. I know they say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing so if that's the case, I must be dangerous indeed. I now know a little about all sorts of things... Just enough to get into trouble.  I always wanted to walk on the wild side..I just envisaged it in a slightly different setting. Be well,Tom
