Monogamy

Dan Savage on monogamy - mind you, his language is potty language, so if you're offended by such, don't bother watching.
The thing that I REALLY stand behind is that otherwise healthy, loving, wonderful relationships are often ruined by one partner straying out of a monogamous relationship. I don't know that "allowing leeway" is exactly the phrase I would use, but understanding and forgiving and realizing that LOVE doesn't mean "I will NEVER be interested in or find anyone else attractive". Humans don't work that way.
What monogamy and commitment means is "I CHOOSE not to act on my attractions toward other people".
I'm guilty of "but if you loved me you wouldn't have!" line of thoughts and I see it EVERYWHERE on the forums. It's just NOT true. Just because someone loves you (or you love someone else) doesn't mean attraction just CAN NOT exist with anyone outside of a loving relationship.
Kinda puts the "if s/he loved me..." argument to rest.
