Monday Update
So I had a long epistle outlining our tale of woe but it flew off in to cyber space. It was too long anyway. The upshot was: Joe has been complaining about niggling calf pain for almost 2 weeks. Early on I checked for symptoms of a blood clot but he was fine. On Friday, he asked if his leg was swollen as the pain was worse. It was and I told him to get to the doctor. So Friday was a flurry of activity - doctor, Ultrasound, Emergency for a needle and pill.
Saturday was emergency (3.5 hr wait) for needle and pill. Yesterday the same but only 1.5 hr wait.
Today, being Monday he could get in to the anticoagulation clinic. We got right in, but it was an hour wait for blood work! Luckily, there is a mall across the street so I went shopping for that wait!
Now I get to give him heparin shots daily for a week or 2 and he has his INR (blood work) done every 2 days. Our wings are clipped for awhile.
Today I found out that my neighbor's husband had a petit mal seizure - our hubbies are both incapacitated for awhile.

So it was a clot? I\'m figuring it is from what you are describing. Thank goodness for your knowledge and skills and I\'m sorry that he is having to go through this and you as well.
Life changes in a moment and please take care of one another as you do... Clipped wings and all.
Healing hugs and loving care,
XO Joanie
Oy Vey! and I asked him to carry my heavy bag. Get well quickly Joe, and next time, complain louder. Hoping all goes well, love to you both, Abby
So glad that you got him there...good diagnostic skills...I hope you can find s good book to keep busy with...Lauri
Hope Joe is feeling better....clipped wings and all....now go take good care of him. Pulling for a full recovery. Hugs, Ann
Be well Joe and don\'t forget to care for yourself, Marlene. Hugs, Kathy
Yes it was a clot. I gave him his Heparin this evening. He has tough belly skin! Actually, he can walk, no problem and he likes to read lying down, which is not good. The doctor told him to move his leg around every time a commercial comes on TV!
This evening my neighbour and I went to a talk about walkable cities. Joe went over to stay with Wayne. We gave them instructions on what to do if either of them had symptoms. When we came back, they were busy watching TV and eating taco chips.
Thank you for your concern.
Lisa: Your dad really scared me. I miss you always and love you forever. Mum
My late husband, Sam had a blood clot in his calf, many years ago. It was a scarey time & he was admitted to ICU, until the blood clot was disolved. It was painful and I felt so sorry for him. When it first happened, he said he thought a wasp had stung him. We have to be so careful, with our health!!
I hope Joe is comfortable and the clot dissolves soon. I hope you are taking care of yourself, as well :)

I\'m so glad that your hubby is o.k! It helps him a lot, the fact that his neighbour is also not well. Please remember to take good care of yourself also.
Warm hugs! xxx
Marlene, how frightening! I guess we know we will endure/dread other losses in our lives unless we go first but it is so scary to even think about them!!! I am so glad your husband is doing better. Sorry about the \"wing clip\" though as I know how much you love travel!
Sorry to hear about your hubby, hope he gets well soon, being down ain\'t fun, all the best to you both, Hugs
Hugs to both you & Joe as he is recuperating & you are taking care of him.
I have a feeling your wings will be back to normal real soon. ; )
Oh Boy ! this was a real painful week. I do hope Joe is better, and the neighbor w/ the seizure. Mike is keeping busy but forgets things more than before but then some days he remembers a lot. Go Figure !
Should we get a baby sitter for our hubbies and go out and talk over wine......
Sending hugs your way
Penny
hope he is better soon!
