Monday mornings
Never was a fan of Monday mornings until I made it my weigh in day. Now I look forward to them, it's exciting to see how my week has gone, and mostly it's all been good! It means I don't mind getting up early to step on the scales and then get on with my day.
Another reason I was eager to get up today was to begin working on my latest novel idea. It might not seem like much to my mother but I love writing and it really does get me up in the morning.
Yesterday I spent the day with a really close friend and she couldn't believe how much weight I'd lost. For me it's all still a little surreal, I don't see myself as looking much better. I did this morning put on my old nightie for the first time and wow, what a difference, it's a size 26/28 (uk) and it is hanging off me. It actually looks good on me for the first time since I bought it. I'm now a size 22 boarding on 20 (Depends on shop and style) This is nearly where I was two years ago. So it is actually a massive change.
I have been struggling with portion control, not that I've been overeating just I've been wasting a lot of food by serving myself too much in random 'd'oh' moments. Now that I only eat off a side plate I rarely can fit onto it more than I can eat. Plus I have these little bowls that look a little like ashtrays, not sure who made the comparison but it's true, that stop me over filling on things like soup.
Had a haircut on Friday, first one in nearly two years. I have stupidly curly hair, the kind that would become an afro if I let it. My last hair dresser got a bit scissor happy and chopped it off until I had a small tight curling bob. Now, I don't know what other people think about this but as an obese person I hated having short hair because it meant I had nothing to hide behind. My chin(s) were clear to see and I felt really shy, awkward and bashful. Most of all I was ashamed of how I looked. Needless to say I will never return to that hair dresser. My new one was lovely, really sweet and asked me all about my hair routine, what I do to it, how I wash it, how I wear it, how I let it dry etc. So now I have a nice cut that falls and frames my face. The fact my face is slimmer now helps with the overall effect. I'm mainly just pleased it doesn't look like a birds nest.
One other thing, my BMI is now below 40 so I am no longer morbidly obese! Just something that made my day even better.
Another reason this is a good Monday is that my baby sister Mila is two today! I cannot believe I've been a big sister for a whole two years. It's madness. Sending my love to her even though she's so far away...
