Monday morning, another week of waiting begins

Good morning journal, the time now is 9:02am and I have been awake for twenty minutes.I have just taken my first sip of the first mug of coffee of the day,it took a little longer than usual to prepare as I had to boil a pan of water, our kettle gave up the ghost yesterday and blew all the breakers in our home plunging us into darkness every time we switched it on.We will buy another when the funds are available, exactly when that will be is anybody's guess, but,at least we have the capabilities to boil water in other ways for now,so that will have to suffice for the present.Well now journal, what to report?,not a great deal really;it is the start of another working week for most people, unless your like me and incapacitated from little things like COPD/Emphysema,tachycardia,diabetes and mental instability, not forgetting of course, the matter of muscle atrophy in both legs and my upper torso,in fact, the mere fact that I am still breathing at all seems nothing short of miraculous,or am I being a tad dramatic there?. Perhaps we will hear something about the,so far, elusive wheelchair that was ordered through my doctor five weeks ago come Wednesday,or may be the pulmonary rehab people or the mental health team will get in touch,it would be nice to hear something from somebody,.....anybody!. My wife says she is going to make some calls today to see if she can get some answers from the people and departments that are supposed to be arranging my treatments,I am easily fobbed off with excuses and half promises,my wife on the other hand is not,she is very much like a mama bear protecting her cubs when they are threatened, and, because of my present physical and mental frailties,I,at this present time to her,am very much one of her cubs,it's just the way she is,and she presents a formidable opponent in any battle she chooses to fight,I do not envy whoever she chooses to cross swords with!.Out of all of the people and departments I would like to hear from, top of my list is the P.I.P people, that is the government agency that deals with awards for disability living allowance,P.I.P stands for personal independent payment, and it would make a world of difference to us financially as every day is a struggle to get through right now,and we never know if we are going to eat a freshly cooked meal or leftovers yet again. That sounds a little dramatic I know, but times are hard for us right now,and we have nothing financially in reserve,I have been unable to work since July 2012,and the little we did have in savings has gone a long time ago. On the plus side,we have each other of course, there is a bond of love between us that remains indestructible, despite the squabbles and arguments that every couple has from time to time, even when one,or both of us,is angry at the other, that love is still there, and most of our arguments are born out of frustration at our current financial and personal situation,and/or our complete helplessness and inability to change things for the better at the moment. Other people and departments hold the key to changing our position, and,at this present time they are unfortunately dragging their backsides a little slowly, government departments are notoriously slow anyway, you just seem to be a number,a statistic to them, and not a real person, well I've got news for them,I'm a real person,a human being who has worked hard for the past forty three years,I have paid into a health system that is supposed to be there when you need it,I need it now,so where the hell are you?. Man!,I seem to have done nothing this morning except run my mouth,I really don't mean to sound ungrateful,I have a lot of things to be thankful for,my wife, our kids and our grand kids,we have a home, shelter, and, most nights,a freshly cooked meal on the table, and, above them all,we have our love, our bond, and our faith in a loving Father in Heaven who continues to walk with us and provides what we need to survive, and, when you look at it like that,we are not doing too badly.Anyway,I think that's enough of my ramblings for now journal, this entry started out as a general update story and ended up as a ranting one,so,until next time,Lord,if You have a moment,a little help would not be unappreciated,in Your own time as always, walk with us again this day Jesus,we are tired but still fighting.

You are so right--you\'re a human being, not a statistic, and you worked hard. It\'s a cold world for older people who are just thrown out of their jobs, told they no longer have pensions, health insurance, etc. I feel your pain. Keep praying. Judy
