I hope everyone reading this had a nice day yesterday. I just realized that this Friday(3/22) is Josh's court date. Back in August 2012 he beat his mom' legs with a plastic rod because she turned the tv off to get his attention. He was put on the Diversion program which is to keep kids out of the court system. But Josh didn't go by the rules layed down in the program and he was taken off. We try to explain to him what all this means and he seems to understand at the time but it doesn't last long. Behavior, responsibilities, school, all of these things don't seem to mean a thing to him. When we have to call the police because he is BEYOND CONTROL(legal jargon but sure fits) I hope for a mean cop who will get in his face and scare him. (Yes, really! I feel he needs this) But, instead he gets a pat on the back and Hey dude this or that. Only one time have we gotten a cop that knew what he was doing. He worked with the gangs over in Nampa and he asked my daughter if she wanted him to be nice or to scare him She choice the latter and the cop pretended to put him in handcuffs explaining this was what was going to happen to him if he didn't straighten up.
So, anyway, now we have this court thing and hopefully the judge will have some ideas. Josh is in a lot of trouble and I hope court will be a good scare for him. Sad for a grandma to say but it is the truth. He seems to not care about the outcome and I think he needs a good scare.

Good luck with the boy and the court dater. He sounds like a real handful considering his age, what a shame
He can be very explosive, disrespectful, stubborn, aggressive, and all that that implies. Scarey. I hope the judge gives him a serious wake-up call.

Doesn\'t your grandson have a \"label\"? Usually they give them a label and follow certain procedures to see if they work on him.
Label? No .Do you mean a diagnosis? He is ODD, has obstructive disorder, ADHD, and \'mood disorder\'. We are trying now to get him a updated evaluation. He is in a special class called Excell.
Well when I was working we called it a \"label\" . I guess you can say it is a diagnosis. In that case they should have other children with the same diagnosis that they can compare your grandson to. I find your posts very interesting as I worked with deaf youth for many years!
I think all kids, even with some of these disorders, are individuals. I guess as far as learning about them this might work.
