Mom is gone?! Monday, June 8th, 2015
How can Mom, a force to be reckoned with, be gone?! She was such a powerful, central presence in my entire life. She was so controlling, dictatorial, opinionated on how I should be and do. But I realize it was all coming from her love for me, wanting me to thrive and be happy and live life right.
How can Mom be gone?
Mom, I love you and miss you and will probably miss you more and more as the days and weeks and years go by. I resented you a lot, wished you would go back to your own home. I wish I had known that there was not much time. You and I put our heads in the sand when it came to your diabetes and COPD. We just kind of shined it all along. We watched Jeopardy!, Criminal Minds, Seinfeld, the occasional movie, played Boggle .... you made us the most fantastic meals. Everything nutritional. I know you spent hours, at the end, struggling to make those meals, until the day came you just couldn't do it anymore.
I love you Mom. You did your very best every day. You are someone I will always admire. You are so talented and intelligent and wise with your finances, have learned to fend for yourself and be assertive in this life. You pushed yourself beyond your limits. You were a great example in many ways. I will try to incorporate much of what you tried to instill in me, into my life, in these years to come.
May God be holding you to His bosom. I am trying to be a Christian, but it is hard for me to believe. But for you AND me, I want to believe. Jesus Christ, I pray you are watching over my Mom right now, holding her to your heart, guiding her way, and will be with her throughout eternity. I pray I will see my mom again in Your presence, when my time comes to die. Amen
