mom had 62nd Birthday

mom had her 62 birthday June 1st (Tuesday). we had a potluck. Indonesians came over, my Russian neighbors, too, and the other neighbor that's part Hawaiian came by. it was pretty fun and the food was pretty good. problem was they brought a GIANT chocolate cake! who was supposed to eat all this?? it was so big you could feed a whole platoon with it and i'm not exaggerating. i've been trying to give plates of it away to my neighbors but i still have have almost 3 full plates left! and worst part is, i also had bought a cake for mom that day, so on top of this we still have a full cake left int he fridge. oh my.....
mom has been walking around the house on her cast with out her crutches. i'm not approving of it and neither are the nurses. it's not good for her severe osteoporosis, and we all know her bones are NOT knitted over yet, but it seems she is trying to FORCE independence too early. i fear that by doing this she is slowing her healing process. she sees her surgeon Monday the 7th for a follow up and i'll tell him about it. i'm sure he'll disapprove. i'll also ask him to give her a walker so she can kick the crutches but still have assistance.
Sonnie (my bro) did not get mom a b-day card, no present, and didn't ask to do anything for her. instead, when he came home from work, he told her he loved her then proceeded to lecture her about God, the universe, and Mr. Zen for 3 whole hours!! i came down stairs and tried to stop it but it didn't work, he picked up where he left off every time. mom just laid on the couch and took it.
the next day i asked her why she did that. why she let him do that to her? and she said that because he told her he loved her and he never says that. but he lectures her almost every night! i asked her why she feels like she need to seek her son's approval and not the other way around. the son should be seeking the parent's approval! i told her that she is ill and he is mentally ill and they both need help. that after the years of my dad's abuse towards her, she doesn't know when to stand up to her self. she needs to go back and start seeing her counselor again.
i keep going over in my mind that when i win this VA case, should i remove my brother from this house? i will have to redo the mortgage and will probably need a lawyer. and it could be years before this case is won.
