Mixed News... Mostly good.. with One small bad thing

This past Monday afternoon the apt. maintenance staff here at my apt. complex got 2 major things done ! I'm thrilled that BOTH things got done that day !
My air conditioning outside unit was replaced, and my washing machine was replaced. Both of them are now BRAND NEW !!!!! YAY !
I'm so happy about both of them !
Both of them needed replacing, but as anyone knows actually getting an apt. maintenance staff to replace things with brand new versions, isn't always possible. I was worried for at first that they were going to pull an old washing machine out of another apartment, to replace my old one that wasn't working properly. Thankfully I suppose that they saw how ridiculous that would be, since it would just be replacing OLD with OLD.
Unfortunately things are " totally " 100 % fine in my apartment just yet. Just yesterday afternoon my bf was putting groceries away in the fridge, and the upper shelf in the fridge door broke off at one end... coming all the off with a loud " crash " as the groceries he put on that shelf fell all over the kitchen floor.
I have a feeling he was trying to " overload " that shelf, but I didn't dare mention that since he was aggravated at it happening enough !
He should have known better than to put a LOT of things on that shelf, since he knew that it had been supposedly " fixed " in the past.
But he was rushing through putting the groceries away, and stuffing things wherever it seemed okay to him in his rush.
Today's Wednesday August 12 th... I called and left a message for a non-emergency maintenance request, to have the fridge door shelf fixed.  But when I called back this afternoon to confirm that they had heard my message, the guy I talked to wouldn't pin down a day when they'd be able to fix it. What could I do about that ? Nothing ! All I could do was be sickeningly polite, and say that I understood - when deep down I was very aggravated. He wouldn't even say that it should be taken care of by " this Friday ", which technically would give them 3 days to fix it.
You can bet that if by Friday morning it's not fixed, I will be calling AGAIN about it ! Plus IF I have to call them AGAIN on Friday, I'm going to NOT be quite as sweet ! I'll still be polite, but I will definitely be a LOT more firm about it !
Maintenance here doesn't seem to ever want to do anything in a prompt fashion at all, so it leaves me no other choice but to stay on them about a request until they actually get off their butts to do it !
While having a broken shelf in the fridge door is NOT a major problem, it still is an aggravating, and frustrating, since it forces a person to shift things around inside the fridge it an odd manor.
Earlier I tried to call an old friend that had called me yesterday, but I had brushed him off for two reasons. One reason was because I was honestly too tired to talk to him, after going to walmart grocery shopping that afternoon. The other reason I brushed him off was because I knew my boyfriend wanted to watch a dvd movie with me, and he has a short fuse where it comes to anyone - or anything - interrupting his " movie time ".
Fair ? Yes and No... No because I have every right to talk to my friends whenever I want to, but yes because I can understand wanting to watch a movie with no background noise.
I was hoping that my old friend would have picked up his cell phone, instead of letting it go to voice mail, but no such luck.
It would have been the perfect time for me to talk on the phone, while my bf is taking a nap, especially since he always does that with the bedroom door closed, and I'm out in the living room.
I still may try to reach my old friend later this evening if my bf goes out for a walk, like he typically does most evenings.
I wish I didn't have 2 very bad knees, or I would go out with him on his walks. It would be perfect exercise for me if I was able to walk without severe pain, and walk as far as he always like to do.
I can walk a " little bit ", but by little I mean only around the apartment with my walker, and from my apartment door to the parking lot when I need to take my transportation van anywhere.
I have a wheelchair, but since it's a manual wheelchair there's no way I could keep up with my bf when he's walking. He's more, or less, a speed walker. He makes record time, in my opinion, from our apartment out to a local store like walmart, or target. With his speed if I dared to try to go with him, while using my manual wheelchair, I'm sure he'd end up leaving me literally " in the dust ".
