Missing you so much lately.

To my soulmate,
I haven't written anything in quite awhile, but felt the need to now.  I have been missing you alot lately and having a hard time.  I'm sure it's the time of year.  This is the second Christmas and holiday season that you are not here.
Fall came and all of our leaves needed to be raked up, which I did.  I took about 50 bags of leaves to the city compost site.  I surely felt your absence doing this project, something which you always helped me with.  The hose needed to drained and put away, lawn chairs and our little camping picnic table stored for the winter...also something that I had help with.  Winter is now here and I just put plastic on some windows inside, something which has become a yearly ritual, to help with heat loss.  Again, something you did better than I do.
Our kitchen is almost finished.  I hope you would approve.  Of course, I would have rather been given the opportunity to have you build all of the cabinets.  One of our dreams that vanished when you passed.  I'm really enjoying the new half bath off the kitchen, my washer/dryer by the new bathroom, and the dining room looks so much better after being dry walled.  The three rooms are almost finished and will be beautiful, but although I'm happy with the end product, I'm sad at the same time because you aren't here to enjoy the improvements with me.
I'm doing OK as I promised you I would.  The passage of time has lessened the hurt.  Now I just plain miss you.  I've gotten used to being alone and a bigger acceptance that you aren't here with me physically any longer.  I don't doubt for a minute that you are with me spiritually.  You promised me you would be after you passed.
I'm sure you know, but we are going to be grandparents again in April sometime.  Ben and Rachel are happily expecting a baby boy, who they plan on naming Daniel.  I so wish you were here to enjoy your new grandson when he arrives.
I'm enjoying my new Jeep and I know you would be happy for me that I have a vehicle that is higher up and easier to get in and out of.
Thankyou for listening.  You always knew what to do to make me feel better.  Maybe somehow you communicated to me to do this, because you know how I feel.  I know you are OK, because I know you are with God and no longer suffering.   All of us are doing OK, but of course miss you.  You are often included in the conversation with the boys saying "Dad would do this".  You are in our thoughts every day.
Rest peacefully my soulmate,
Nancy
