Missing
It's a sad time at the call center. Things are winding down in preparation for closing. You can't help thinking about the people that worked there. At it's height, there were 400 people in the building, but it was a tight group. You may not have known all their names but you knew their faces. You spoke to them as they passed you. There was a team spirit and there were teams,,,small groups of people under a team leader. The leader kept track of your stats and advised you when you needed improvement. And there was team rivalry to get the best performance. The faces came and went,,,some finding other jobs and others let go because they couldn't meet the requirements of the job. You had close ties with your training classmates and were disappointed when they left. Out of the 28 in my class, after 6 months only 5 were left. Then 4,,then 3. And now, there's only one classmate left as the third member of our small group was let go this week. You begin missing faces and wondering what happened to them. Did they leave for another job or let go? You depended on seeing the faces to give you a sense of security. Now, most of the faces are gone,,,some to home agency, some to other jobs and others let go. But, unless you were personally involved with them, you don't know what happened. The whole building was full, but now, the remaining people don't fill up one section. I miss those faces that have gone before and I will miss those who tough it out to the end. They were my friends. It is so hard to realize that so many faces,,,are missing.
