Miscellaneous

lots of stuff to write, will be adding to this space later today as I sit in a waiting room... working... way back in the March 5th journal entry, I wrote: There's some kind of wart just above one eye that appeared larger than I remembered.  I asked him [hubby] about it."I'm an old tomcat," he said. "Just don't take me to the vet." Well, here we are, at the vet.  Dermatologist.  It's a basal cell carcinoma, at the end of his right eyebrow next to his nose.  It's nearly 2, we've been here since 11:15.  He's been in twice to the procedure room, each time he's come back a little more subdued.  Hopefully this current trip in will be the last one on that site (he was starting to feel a little queasy)... there are three more (one his belly, one on each arm) that they will have to address.  He doesn't think that those will be as involved as the one on his face.  On the other hand, he might be stressed enough from just this one that they might decide to have him come back another day for the rest. Poor guy. I've been jotting down notes on a coming out essay while I wait (I'll most likely post it here, and possibly also in the Coming Out community), just so I won't sit here worrying.  The doctors told him that this procedure has a 99% cure rate, so everything is generally optimistic, even though today is rather unpleasant.  3:30 update - They've finally got it all (after three trips back in) - he's getting the stitches now, lost part of his eyebrow, going to have a big shiner tomorrow... going back in to talk to the Dr. in a couple of minutes to discuss how to take care of him for the next few days until it's time to get the stitches out.  I just wonder how I can desensitize myself enough to be able to cope with the dressing changes until then.  Then we have three more spots to remove, but at least the worst one (this one by his eye) will be done. 5:10  - back home.  It took an hour to do the stitches, they come out next week.  5 hours total... and I misunderstood - there's only ONE more spot to do, that one is on his belly, so won't be as traumatic as this one.  He's lying on the couch, we ice it every hour on the hour so it won't be so swollen tomorrow.  Yikes.
