Miracles
I have seen so many miracles in my one year of sobrity....In my world now, I try to remember God is everything or He is nothing!
The first one that comes to my mind and that really changed SO much for me, was when I was 3 months sober...I lost my cat...I live alone, so he really did mean a lot to me...It was really hard, watching him sick, taking him to the vet, waiting by the phone and then getting the news that he did not make it! I was really upset. I kept in close contact with my sponsor, but was feeling a little silly over being so upset over a cat.
I didnt get why God would take him from me, and think I could really handle it so early in sobrity...I mean my cats were on my gratitude list, most days, God should know I needed him....well, I was at the point of saying f**k it to God and all the AA BS. I grabed my purse, threw on a hat and was going to go to the gas station to get beer. I got the beer out of the cooler, it was in my hand and felt so wierd...it had been awhile...I was standing in line, and went to get my walet out...MY WALET WASNT THERE! I just about started bawling right then and there! I put the beer down and went to my car...I lost it, I knew I didnt have the energy to go back to my apt. and return to the store...I was crying uncontrolable, I knew it was God who had saved me, instantly! Because there was that part of me that did NOT want to buy the beer!
I just celebrated a year and I thank GOD a lot for that day! For showing me miracles in my life, not only that day, but all the time! That one was huge, but there are small ones all the time, if a choose to open my eyes!!
Last week a friend asked me to go to a meeting with her because a friend at her work wanted her to take her daughter to a meet. The girl was only 17 years old and my freind being older wanted some younger support too. The girl just about backed out, we almost turned around, it almost didnt happen! But against the odds, the girl changed her mind and met us at a coffee shop and we when to the meeting. The woman who spoke that night happened to get sober at the age of 16 years old, and told the new girls story...the new girl was shacking her head and it was amazing. The meeting was even suppose to be a discussion meeting but happened to an aniversary that night, and A speaker. And there happened to be another girl there who was 18 years old...I had never heard of another woman (though I am sure there are plenty) who got sober at 16 and stayed sober, without relapse, such as the one who spoke that night! There were so many miracles that night!! And I feel blassed to have been there...The girl may or may not stay sober but it had to of had some kind of impact on her! She was a beautiful girl and I got to see God reaching out for her!!! It was an experience I will never forget!! I saw God in the woman who spoke, and she spoke of so much hope and miracles in her life as well...
A couple days ago, I celebrated one year and my brother spoke at the meeting! We were not really that close growing up, but he is my big brother and someone I have always looked up to...hearing his story was so amazing...he didnt hold back, he told the truth of his story and for the first time I got to see his walls come down, I got to see the miracle of his life...I never knew that my brother almost died the night befor he chose to get sober...that he had DT's and barely made it out of his drinking to share his story...I got to see how God saved him as well!!
I sometimes question God, but when I really look at the FACTS there is no way I can deny the existance of a Power Greater than us all!!

Loved reading your story Ashley. God will indeed do things for us that we cannot not do for ourselves.
I can understand how you would feel upset about losing a cat. It may seem silly to some but although I met plenty of people when I was drinking, my only friend was a wise old cat. She died of old age a few years ago.
Congratulations on one year sober and I hope you have many more.
Congrats on your year, Ash! WTG!
