MINI-MANIC

Good day, my friends.  It's been quite a while since I've written.  I seem to keep myself busy reading other people's things & responding.  I guess I forget I might have something to say too.Today, I had an appointment with my Psychologist & my psych nurse (+ a student nurse).  I don't know why, but suddenly, everything that came out of my mouth was funny.  All 4 of us ended up laughing our heads off - even my usually serious doctor.  It was fun, but I was also embarrased, cause I knew they knew I was manic.  I told them about something that had happened to me & how I responded, & they all looked at each other with sheepish smiles, & I knew they though my reaction was due to mania.  I went on & on explaining how it wasn't, it was just my usual way of being & what I stood for.  Oh well, you can't always win, right.Something upsetting happened the other day on the phone.  I called my sister, who lives in Arizona, & her husband, who I've yet to meet, after 10 years, answered.  He told me it was 80 degrees down there, & asked how it was up here?  I told him we had had many sunny days but it wasn't warm yet. Then he says......"Well, it better hurry up, or you're going to get depressed", like the punchline of a joke.  Well, I sure didn't think it was funny.  Who did he think he was.  I found it & him to be very rude & unkind.  It hurt alot.A friend of mine from DS told me about a program she went to called DBT skills.   I don't remember what it stands for, but it's supposed to teach you really good life skills.  I told my psych nurse about it today, & she said she thinks they're planning to start a group up in the future, but she's not sure when.  She put me on the list of interested parties. My son & his wife are now expecting their baby girl, Adalynn Tait, in 6 weeks today.  We're all getting so excited.  The expectant mother, Kendra, is very uncomfortable, having gestational diabetes & sacro pain, but she's hanging in there.  She's a very brave girl.  I'm so proud of her.  I'm proud of both of them.  In their first year of marriage, they've been through so many troubles, & they've handled them bravely & maturely.  And they still appear to be in love.Well friends, I thank you all who have been there for me.  I can't say enough how much DS & my friends means to me.  I'm so grateful.God bless you all,Love, Debi

Thanks angelbear23. With the two recommendations I have so far, plus, I think pray4you2, or poetrywriter also took the course, I\'m impressed. My psysch nurse is going to get me strarted, with just the 2, & we\'ll practice the lessons between just us.I\'m excited about it.
Thanks for your offer to be there, if I need you. I\'ll be taking you up on that answer, I\'m sure.Love you, my friend.

I pray that you are doing well this evening. Yeah, I think your bro-in-law was rude but I bet he didn\'t even realize it. Some people just lack class. I hope the DBT program gets set up soon there and you benefit from it. I had never heard of it until coming here. I looked it up and here is a link to some info on it: http://www.palace.net/~llama/psych/dbt.html

Does son and family live close by? I hope they do, then you get to play with baby! I love holding little baby\'s. I pray that all goes well. Sounds like Kendra has had a time with the gestational diabetes and sacro problems. Have they given her an estimate on the size of baby? Will she have cesarean? I will pray for her and baby as well as you of course. God bless you and yours.

Love in Christ,
Teressa

Lots of love,

Hi Teressa, My son & his wife live about 1 hour away, which is great. When they got married, it was in her hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Yes, I get to hold the baby, see her lots, hopefully they\'ll let me babysit, but I\'m not sure about that. We\'ll see. Thank you for your prayers. When Duane (my son) finishes school, 2-3 years, they plan to move back to Oklahoma City, OK. He\'s studying at a Seminary, & wants to teach courses on doctrine to laymen, in ways that will help them understand & apply it to their lives. His plan is to go to Christian Schools, Colleges, Churches, places like that, & teach courses that he has designed, for a period of time, & charge for the course. In otherwords, he\'s not planning to be a minister in a church. He feels led to do this. I\'m so proud of him & his wife, who has a degree in elementary education, in the states. She (kendra) really doesn\'t want a cesarean. She hopes for natural childbirth, but is just taking one step at a time. They\'ve named their soon to be daughter Adalynn Tait. Tate is my maiden name, & they didn\'t realize when giving her the name Adalynn, that Lynn if my middle name. So, with our last time, she had 3/4 of my name. I\'m so honored. I told them, they\'ll have to name their next child after her side of the family, so there are no hurt feelings.
Nice talking to you. Thanks for praying & thanks for the webaddress about DBT.
Love, Debi
