Message in a bottle

I was on an Island just of the coast of Xiamen, China.
It was a small island with a handful of shops and restaurants. You could walk around the whole island in a few hours. I forget what it was called.
I was with my fiancee. We sat down by the ocean one evening and watched the waves gently roll in and out. There was a empty glass bottle with a screw lid washed up along the shingle beach. It was dry and clean inside and out.
At first we were going to write our names, location and email and put them in the bottle and send them to sea but then we decided to write a letter.
I do not remember what I exactly wrote in the letter. My fiancee wrote a letter also. We put both put our letters inside of the bottle and neither of us read them.
I just wanted to let you know that I love you. I know we never got to meet but you were there in my life for a brief moment of time. I hope one day you will come back. I hope one day I will see your smile. I hope one day you can forgive me. You belong to the ocean now. You spirit is free. I will never forget you. I will never stop loving you.
We carried the bottle all around the island and then found the perfect place to set it free. We watch the bottle float out to sea until it was gone.
We sat there and watched the sunset in silence.
