Merely Intrusive Thoughts

Focus is still coming hard for me this morning, but the eye pricks of neighborhood security lights are merely unpleasant. Down from mind-ripping pain. Merely unpleasant is the best I believe I can do on those eye pricks. I don't think I'll ever fit the human norm of finding comfort and beauty in them. The racing thoughts have slowed to merely intrusive. So far. . . Inserting superstisious gesticulations. . . The day is still young. . . The subject of this morning's intrusive thoughts has shifted from the nightmare my river dreams have become to the family problems awaiting me in Texas. Last night's ear tickle from Hubs included another round of parental venting. Little ones, little heartaches. Big ones, big heartaches. And the need for parental venting goes on. . .

K had to tend her own family business yesterday, so I worked The Pile alone, moving in small, manageable steps with lots of breaks for self-care. I think the biggest accomplishment of the day was finding some peace with the fenceline quarterbacks. Those fountains of wisdom and quotes from the obvious who have no intention of putting on work gloves. They interrupt far more work than they facilitate. The number of pedestrians in this neighborhood is shockingly high for the 21st century and yesterday's beautiful weather brought them out in droves. 5 months ago, at the beginning of this project, I embraced the fenceline conversations with nostalgic enthusiasm. I've heard about this custom. . . It was a surprise to me to find physical evidence that it had traslated into the 21st century. By the time I was seeing Breach of Contract litigation in my near future, the fenceline quarterbacks were driving me to tears. I like your version better than my realities, friend, but. . . Do my realities count in your wisdom? Yes Ma'am/Sir. I'll try that ASAP.

Yesterday's breakthrough(?) in dealing with the fenceline quarterbacks came through an art channel. A youngish man walking by stopped to interrupt m work with a compliment on the jumble of bricks and rocks I had moved from the back yard sculptures into a rough sketch of a raised garden bed in the front. He was respectfully mindful of the fact that he was interrupting a work flow. My only certainty for those bricks and rocks is that I didnae want them where they were. I amnae certain I want to keep them at all, but for the interim, they can be stored in a rough sketch as easily as they can be stored in traditional storage piles. The youngish artist loved the sketch. The conversation rambled into some first rate art therapy.

As we were saying our good-byes, the buddy he was on his way to see skidded to a dramatic entry on his bicycle. The feisty old fellow was an accomplished fenceline quarterback. Another of my most vocal fenceline quarterbacks was working on his perfect yard within earshot of the good-byes and overheard my artistically empowered slam of the newest fenceline quarter back. My new art buddy was greatly humored by the exchange. Dunno. . . It *felt* like a breakthrough.

The dawn outside the studio window is progressed enough to have washed away the inky black shadows of the security lights. The light sensors will begin turning the lights of soon. The clear sky is beginning to show the blues of the coming day. I'm feeling reasonably confident as I nudge myself toward The Pile.

Sleep restless but adequate. Appetite good. Persilly content.

Your work in progress seems to be chiseling. Your ability to self awareness is always amazing to me . It is apparent that your balance is a constant shift from side to side which I have yet to find the grace to do so if you could write that o struction book for me I would sorely appreciate it. Still sending supportive hugs meant to carry back to your grand time. Crossing fingers xo

Thank you for the accidental reminder of my favorite balance meditation, Nancy. Riding a bike. The balance shifts for every slope, every pebble, every stick in the path. Getting too lost in the scenery can cost you a bike crash, but with awareness, it is possible to keep the balance while appreciating the wonders of the ride.

Back to The Pile. . .

I put the yaddah to the blah and the blah to the yaddah
It's the things I do just because I gotta
I know lots of honeys can do that do
But I'm real tired of waiting on you
So I pull my aching muscles out of the chair
To spite the fact that it ain't no fair
To put the yaddah to the blah and the blah to the yaddah

Mindfulness yup I should have realized that one thanks. I will put thy instruction book to good use. And I love the poetic flair. You should kid come join my creative expression group and drop a expressive poetic tumble from time to time lol

I hate racing thoughts because inevitably I bet on the wrong thought in the race and end up losing. Well I’m hoping your own race turns out much better than mine. I see the track as being a 50/50 ratio of mud to water so it could be water skis would be the right shoe for today’s race. That will be up to the trainers but several thoughts like these conditions and come from long lines of previous “mudder’s.”

Perhaps one day we will have the opportunity to use your creative expression group to challenge my Townie Club phobia, Nancy. The creative expression groups I have tried so far have only deepened the phobia, but. . . I keep on dreaming, even when it breaks my heart.

I am on the verge of calling my favorite of the fence line quarterbacks by my deceased FIL's first name. His physical appearance is nearly the FIL's opposite, but the perfection of his lawn, the efficiency of his still busy senior days and the nature of his fence line quarterbacking are a dead ringer. The FIL was insistent on the Dad title, but I never was able to honor the insistence without stuttering. By the time he passed, I was addressing him as Mister and continue to do so in my therapy support circles.

I really do enjoy the casual pleasantries with the dapper man, but I'm in danger of going DILly on the fence line quarterbacking. I might be willing to get out of the way and let you *do* it your way, though. Yeah, I see you still got that military efficiency going on. Your lawn says it all.

Hope you win your race, Ghostdancer.

Racing isnae on my strictly personal agenda today. I'm too tired for racing.

Back to putting the yaddahs to the blahs and the blahs to the yaddahs.

I like your yaddah blah poem.

Slow and steady with the pile, it will come good in the end, I believe it. I want to write more but social anxiety says NO and now I feel like I'm making it about me when this is your journal.

I find a pair of dark glasses and something like a scarf covering my mouth prevents a good deal of unwanted interaction.

Glad you found the courage to ignore your social anxiety and speak up, Ashley. Your support is priceless. I like the yaddah blah poem, too. I tailor it for many of the yuckety yucks life keeps forcing on me. Don't wanna, but it takes what it takes.

For me, the cover-ups (scarves, etc.) work better in social settings than work settings. They get in the way of EVERYTHING when I am physically active. Damn!!! I set up another camp chair to let me rest while the fence line quarterbacks dispense their wisdom, just in case one of them is energetic enough to walk all the way to the camp chair to offer their quartering. I'm taking lots of rest breaks.

The pile, itself, hasn't changed since K and I took our last load on Thursday, but I'm kinda proud of having the edges clean enough that even a fence line quarterback can approach without grounds for lawsuit lotto. Well. . . It's almost clean enough. Depends on the quarterback and their interest in lawsuit lotto.

Engineering maxim: Anybody who believes in "foolproof" has greatly underestimated fools.

Back to the father fucking pile. . . Cursing cathartic?

Maybe the pile needn't be completely removed before it would be acceptable to abandon it for awhile to let you go have grandtime? Or perhaps you already came to this conclusion... sorry thank you.

Yup, I've already reached that conclusion and don't plan to go beyond making it tolerable ugly. I even feel mocked by many of the locals for having such an over-developed sense of civic responsibility. Many have said they don't understand why I'm letting that pile keep me from the Grand Party. Damned outsiders. . . This ain't no high brow hood. Your standards are only gonna raise the rent prices. In one of the richer districts of this small city, the fines would already be accumulating, but this ain't one of those districts.

I've seriously considered accepting that at face value and scooting my boots on down to the Grand Party, but. . . I is what I is and I isn't what I isn't. I don't see myself enjoying the Grand Party with this atrocity to my credit, even if it is way up in Yankeeland.

Dodging bullets now. Calling the folks from northern confederate states, "Yankees" has produced colorful results when new arrivals have eavesdropped on Native Texans lamenting the "Boom Progress." You're from up North, ain't ya, jackoff?
