I grew up during this ... then suddenly you never heard anything about it and it was swept under the rug.
We went to see the Viet Nam Memorial in Washington D.C. in the 90's and one of the professors cried...he said all of the people on the wall are his generation - he was in college during it. very sad. he was looking for people he knew and found a couple of names.
in a normal war, there are 62 days of actual combat; the reason there is soooo much damage with people who fought in viet nam is the average number of days under seige is 230. four times as much as a "normal" war.
the only thing that compares to that much battering and constant fear, is a person held captive as a p.o.w. or abused children and/or women who endure the same or more days of attack battering them 365 days per year. the result is the same.
the only support group that addresses the result of this kind of abuse in the real world is alanon. abuse is abuse. doesn't matter what triggers the person to abuse others. the result is the same.
we are still in a heat wave. in the 90's again today. perfect swimming weather. wish i was on vacation. instead of emptying out rn got in two more, in addition to the one the vulture dropped from the sky (its alive). her neighbor's daughter was over and i didn't recognize her at all. she grew like six inches in all directions. seriously. omg! she's 14 and still sharing a bedroom with her 9 year old brother and now a "step brother" not smart. rn says her mother smokes pot alllll the time and money goes for pot first and the household second, each kid has something off and she thinks its because the mother smoked pot during the pregnancies. the kid is also on meds (that alone is bad) and the 9 year old who is smart, has behavioral problems. could it be boredom? public school doesn't usually work out well for smart kids. weird that people still smoke that stuff, to me its totally a 70's thing that people dropped when it wasn't legalized back then.
she is finally interested in doing a food co-op but wants someone else to open it, not her. really hadn't planned on opening any businesses, so want to run it passed a couple of the churches around here.
