meditation controlling thoughts
God bless you. To release me of my negative habitual thoughts I do breathing exercises. I lay on the floor. I focus on breathing through my nose- inhale and exhale. I think of something that can make me smile a little. I focus on one sound around me- the exhaust fan blowing, cars driving by, or this tiny sound my refrigerator makes to block my thoughts. That helps me relax my forehead/minds eye/my mind. When my mind is relaxed, my body becomes relaxed.
I started meditating 3 minutes at a time- morning and evening. Now, I'm up to 15m quieting my mind. Longer on the weekends. I can see some progress in myself for the better. I am a lot calmer and patient. I'm starting to control my anger. I'm starting to express my hanger in a non-threatening manner.
I have a lot more meditating work to do though. I still have some areas in my life I want to change. I never forget prayer or I always thank a Higher Power.
