Measuring Paradigm Shifts
Pimp Sis and Hubs share the same birthday. Pimp Sis loved her birthday enough to dramacate it to whatever direction any given year was taking it. 10 siblings. . . Dysfunctional parents. . . Constant moving from town to town, state to state. . . Nobody in the tribe had great birthdays. Pimp Sis's typical birthday drama was not fit for prime time. Still. . . Creative soul that she is, she worked with what was available.
I know I have told Hubs he shares the same birthday as Pimp Sis, but she her presence in our lives was brief periods of stormy encounters spread out over 38 years. None of those stormy encounters were around their birthday and I have kept my processing of Pimp Sis's birthday dramas within my therapy support network. Even in the years we have disregarded Hubs's birthday celebration, the day has been kept *His* day.
This year's Pimp Sis processing has found me wishing to use the flashbacks as measuring devices. At least that is what I think I am wishing. Whatever ^it^ is I am wishing for is still beyond the grasp of clear and simple words. Perhaps I am only wishing I could hold a moon beam in my hand. I have a wide array of measuring distance between the child prostitute I was while I was dodging shrapnel from Pimp Sis's birthday dramas and the comfortable, albeit still confused retiree I am today. Who knows what tomorrow may bring. Measuring that distance doesnae speak much about the half a century of journey twixt those tweens. There were a great many paradigm shifts attached. From terrorized child victim to street survivor. From street survivor to U.S. Army GI. From GI to ? ? ? Well. . . It has been a long and winding road with many moonbeams that have slipped through my fingers.
For now, it's time for a paint run. 4 gallons for the exterior, 1 gallon for the ceiling of the extraction room and 3 gallons for the walls of the extraction room. Is it a honey barn yet?

Healing Thoughts and Prayers from me, as you reach for your moonbeam, and God Willing, find healing through the Universe.
There is that fancy phrase again :-)
Yeah, for whatever reason, that phrase haunts me and has since ? ? ? Forever?
I *think* I understand the phrase "paradigm shift", though I couldn't explain it. What I know is that for me, it's usually painful, means letting go of illusions - hard, but necessary steps to take.
Healing hopes and prayers for strength...
Painting. Hard physical work again, hope it's good for you :-)
Yea, I've been puzzling over that concept since High School, maybe even longer. I keep letting it go and it keeps coming back to haunt me. Whatever the evers of those fancy word whats, the harder part of letting go of the old is filling the holes left by the letting go. I sometimes feel like making changes requires going through a period of feeling like a piece of swiss cheese. It take a while to fill the void.
