Meadowlark Gardens
I went with my meet up group to Meadowlark Gardens. I was feeling very depressed, and I was hoping that the gardens would brighten my mood, It did to some extend, but not completely. I know it is never good to compare yourself to others. There was a new member, she recently moved to the area from Missouri, she works at the Dept of Defence, many of the members have govt jobs. My road buddy works as a technical writer, she is working for a company that does govt contracts. Another member of our group works for the American Nurses Assoc another works for the FCC And when we ask each other what we do for work, they say what they do, then I get asked. "So what do you do?" "I work for Home Depot" Them: "Oh" *eye roll* yep I feel so ashamed that I couldn't do better with my life. And this week my mood has tanked. Tomorrow I have to go BACK to 'lovely' HD I am going to get my act together and find something else before the end of this summer.

Hi Linda. You should never be ashamed of what you do. I know when I go to Home Depot I always have to look for someone to help me. I am not the most versed person in home improvement!!! I would be in slot of trouble at Home Depot without people like you. So hold your head high!!!
The Gardens look like an interesting place to visit. Glad you got to go.

There is no shame in working at HD. At all. Not everyone is skilled enough to do so. I certainly couldn't advise folks on parts to buy, or the best appliances for their needs, or hold super heavy boxes while standing on a lift. I wonder how much of your perception of their response was projection...i.e. you feeling bad that you work there, versus them looking down on you. I always feel a great deal of gratitude for our HD workers...I would be lost without them!
What *is* a shame is that you struggle to move on from HD, and you stay in a place that makes you unhappy. You have skills that are marketable and you're very intelligent. Maybe with the help and encouragement of your friends, and the advice of your therapist, you can finally move on from HD to something you would enjoy. Because you do deserve happiness!

No matter the occupation...doctor, lawyer, accountant, server, greeter, janitor, etc...what really, truly matters is that you do your job well. Take pride in the fact that you are assisting helpless, non-DIY folks like Denny and me find what we need to repair a toilet or fix a sink. You are making a difference!
