Me, Myself and the can of Starting Fluid! Coming soon to a theater near you!

Todays journal shall be in RED! Why? The title may give you some idea. Could it be my anger, at the '97 Tahoe we just put a "Jasper" motor in this year, or the FIRE that was on the can of starting fluid,  my hands, my arms and the motor after the carburetor back fired!  All of the above is my guess!
I was on my way to my 2pm Wedding on Sunday and thought I should stop and get a pack of breathe mints just to be "sure" for the ceremony.... The Tahoe ran fine. I stopped at the store, shut off the engine and went in and made my purchase. When I came back the truck would not start. Turns over fine, fast rearing to go but no ignition. I quickly called for backup. My pickup arrived just after I called the Groom. NO problem, we're running late also! (Thank You God!)
The Wedding went off with the wife waiting in my pickup like we were robbing a bank! I left right after the ceremony, signed the license, collected my check and off the home.
My daughter and I went back to the Tahoe yesterday (Monday) and tried again...same result. Now I have tools!! I checked the engine fuses for the fuel pump and the rest. I opened up the mass air sensor so I could spray into the feeder duct to the induction and my girl hit the key. Roar went the engine!!!  A hah,  not getting gas! The tank is half full...one of two options, most likely the $200.00 fuel pump or the $12.00 filter!  Let's spray again!!  Key on, engine spinning and spray.... COUGH!!
FIRE, ME...the CAN the ENGINE!!!  I STARTED PATTING MY HANDS EVERYWHERE (got then out) THEN MY ARMS! Then (now I get real smart)  I pick up the still burning can of highly combustible starting fluid (Ether) and bring it to my lips and blow out the fire.... I think God may have had His fingers crossed too! How DUMB can a person get... especially a fire fighter with 35 years experience. I KNOW BETTER! Luckily all was ok except I now have no hair on my right arm and both hands. The tingling in my hands went away in about 2 hours.  I'll live. The Tahoe gets towed home tonight!

OMG Denny!!! I don\'t blame you for the Red font. Good luck with your Tahoe. Don\'t vehicles get you stinking mad at times? Sounds like you had quite an ordeal. At least you got to the wedding in time and everyone was late.

I AM JUST AT A LOSS FOR WORDS BROTHER. GOD WAS RIGHT THERE WITH YOU OR YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN AT LEAST SERIOUSLY INJURED. I HAVE RIPPED OFF A BRAND NEW SHIRT TO PUT OUT AN ENGINE FIRE BEFORE AND I HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY BURNED BEFORE. GET YOU AN EXTINGUISHER AND KEEP IT IN YOUR VEHICLE.
GET YOURSELF A BOOK ON YOUR VEHICLE. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TURN THE KEY ON AND HEAR IF THE PUMP IS WORKING.ANYWAY THANK GOD YOU WEREN\'T HURT ANY WORSE. GOD BLESS__DENNY

Funny, as I look back at the things I have done in my 35 years of running into burning buildings etc, I have taken chances that should and could have ended it all. I know that God was with me! How could \"I\" have survived otherwise.
