May 6, 2011 - exercise update/general

Hi Everyone,
TGIF!  I went to group exercise run yesterday.  They finally gave us our shirts.  They are a nice blue color and it says "no boundaries 5K training".  nice shirts.  V-neck but not too low.  Thank god I wore a long sleeve tshirt because they asked us to wear the shirts because they had a guy filming us.
I started out pretty good, making it up the 1st hill again.  I just did what I can during the run.  3 min running is a huge feat.  I wound up running then walking alittle bit, running more.  Kept that up the whole time.  They had us go a block farther this time at the top of the hill.  almost like 2 large rectangles.  the 2nd loop was the exact route but at the end, we had to go another block and go down that same hill (the one I can run up) and back to the start.  When I was rounding the corner of Virginia Street and Ellicott, I saw at a distance someone down and about 5 people around him.  The closer I got, I noticed that they were doing chest compressions.  Of course, I wasn't a nurse or knew CPR so I kept on going.   As I kept going, there was no one around to keep track of us (maybe another mentor way back - I heard the cow bell but I just kept going at my run/walk routine.  Kept working for myself.   One of the mentors was running toward me urging me to keep going (as I was running down the 1st hill).  I asked him "hows that guy doing?"  He had no idea what I was talking about.  I think he went running back to check on the situation.  when I passed the fallen guy, there was a person on the phone, police was on its way (I pointed to where he was) and heard the ambulance at a distance.  Pretty scarry.   My thought was,  I haven't seen him before and he only came a few times (A few people said that).  He did not look good when we started - looked red in the face.   The only reason why I knew about him was that someone asked about the corporate challenge and he said that we "register through Kaleida health".  I highly doubt he was training for running - he got the schedule.  If you pay $$ to be in a program such as this, you have to invest in the time to exercise.  Its best to get the most of the program.   You just can't go out and run 2 miles without some sort of endurance conditioning.   It looked like he wasn't in very good shape.  apparently he almost made it and was about 1/2 mile from finishing.  He collapsed at the 2nd hill (the one that I have trouble with).  The camera guy was still set up when I finished but after I passed him, he packed up and left.  I told him there were about 5 other people behind me.  Jeesh.  I wasn't the last person to come through.  Now the filming looked like I was the last person.  Which I wasn't.
I do hope hes ok.  I will have to check my hotmail.com email to see if they posted any updates.  When I asked Alice at the store, she didn't have any news.
after the run (and the situation), the sports store had a "ladies night - cynco de mayo" night.  They had margaritas and coronas to drink,  chips and salsa.  It was alot of fun.  I didn't partake in the limbo competition but one of my mentors, Kelly was in th the limbo competition.  I have a pic of her that I plan on posting.  she has a red shirt.  It will take a little bit because I like to download a bunch of pics before I delete them.  I was there until 9am.
It sure was a long day, I had my nephrologist appt.  He wasn't concerned about my #s and reassured me.  He said its all about how I feel.   Everyday and every minute the #'s change.  Today I could be 44%, who knows.  He said that I am in the early stages of 2.   He was very happy about the weight loss and exercise and to keep going.  As long as I feel good, I am going to continue with me quest of losing weight and exercise.  I think if I drop 10 lbs, my #'s will keep improving a bit.   I am working on depleting all traces of POP (mountain dew) and once I do, I will be able to stop drinking it.  Diet Pepsi already tastes terrible to me.    I went to get some chicken slovacki the otherday and ordered a diet pepsi.  I couldn't finish it. Yuck!  probably should have stuck with water and lemon.  Next time....
Today I am going to see some accapella group with (MY FRIEND) Jen and Paul.   Should be interesting. We are also going out to dinner before hand.  It can get kinda busy at the restaurant.  I hope I can find a parking spot.  I might have to venture out at 5:15 (we have to meet at 5:30-6).  I don't mind sitting and waiting for them.  They will be taking busses to meet me.
