Matthew's Point of View

Two years ago, my mom had us write a story of Matthew's point of view when he and Marilla met Anne from Anne of Green Gables for our homeschool.

This is mine. It's not that good but I had fun writing it. I also had to add in some vocabulary words.

Dear Diary,

Today, Marilla and I adopted a child. We decided we would get a boy so that he could do the chores that need to get done. So I dressed in my Sunday clothes and got into the carraige. I could feel Rachel's stare as I rode off but I tried to focus and [not] show her any fear.

When I got to the train station, I saw no one so I made up my mind to talk to the man in charge. As I walked up to him, I saw an unusually skinny, freckled girl with red hair. She was lost in thought so I just walked past her. Luckily, she didn't sense my fear. I asked the train manager when the next train will be and he said that all the trains had arrived for the day. I looked back and I saw the very expressive girl staring at me. I started to shake. Was she going to start asking me questions and interogating me?

I walked over the her so I could die more quickly and she asked me if I was Matthew Cuthbert. I winced thinking that was when I was going to die but nothing happened. I opened my eyes and she was still staring at me so I gathered all my strength and said yes. Suddenly, I felt light and I thought I was dead but she just started to talk and talk.

I took her home because I liked her and I thought she could be my pet. She's so nice to me so I convinced Marilla to let her stay.

It's short and stupid but I hope it made you laugh.
