match maker?
I was just about to write about how I just read the 12 steps to sobriety, and while multi tasking, I saw I had a new message here. So I read it but it wasn't from one of my friends here. It was from some guy who said he read my profile and is interested in a relationship with me!!!! WTF? LMFAO! I am sorry for lauging but it is funny. I was feeling all down and out and here I get this message from someone who thinks DS is matchmaker.com!
Anyways, I have realized that I am definitely powerless to alcohol. I was doing good with 10 days sobriety, and then I had the bright idea to get some wine, and drink it. I knew I was wrong while I was getting that big box of wine I don't even like boxed wine. I just wanted to make sure I had plenty to drink. I knew 1 or 2 glasses wouldn't be good enough. I knew that this was a major set back for me because 10 days sober may not be 10 years, but it sure is alot for me. I drank everyday for 5 years, and every time I tried to quit before it wouldnt last longer than 2 days. I have no control over alcohol, so I really must stay away from it. I was sick to my stomach before even taking a drink. I don't know what all I can do to stay away from it but I know I have to. I also know I need to tell people how serious my problem is, so they don't ak me if I want to drink, or offer me a drink. It will be hard to tell, becaue some people think that I am not an alcoholic. I have tried mentioning it in the past and the response I get is "You don't drink enough to be an alcoholic" but they don't see me when I am sitting home alone drinking from sun up till the next day if I can! So I read the 1st of the 12 steps and I know I am powerless to this. It is a real problem

those people who tell you that you don\'t drink enough to be an alcoholic are in denial themselves and want you to party with them and therefore they are enabling you in something you know is a major problem and have no control over and you know that saying you are the company you keep so you may have to change your circle of friends if these are people who encourage you to even have 1 drink because for someone with a drinking problem 1 drink is 1 to much, your aware of it but people who want you to drink obviously don\'t care and just are more concerned you party with them or as I said before are in denial and refuse to hear you and listen to you have a problem with alcohol,I encourage you today not tomorrow to make some calls to try and see if you can seek out a rehab problem with extensive therapy and groups and that may be the answer you need.Hope this has helped if just a little bit.Have a good day, thinking of you,Kim
Dear Beautiful Campy,
Some idiots think that DS is a great dating site as it if far easier to take advantage of people when they hit a low spot in their lives. Take the compliment as you deserve it but avoid idiots like him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have ten years now clean and sober, but it took many many attempts at trying and a really low spot to get here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one makes it on their first attempt!!!!!! Just use it to re commit to quitting! Eric
One of the things you have ro change is people, places and things taht trigger your cravings. Get a bag of Jolly Ranchers or hard candy you like it helps with the sugar cravings. Lots of sugar in alcohol.
I went to the store and bought too much candy, soda, and icecream, and I don\'t even like sweets that much. I am trying to get away from that too, because I want to be healthy like I was 15 years ago. Eric, don\'t worry I told the guy off and let him know I was offended by his message. I knew he was someone surfing the site looking for weak people to hook up with. thx all for your support. I don\'t want to end up dead. If I try to drink I know that will eventually happen
hey sweet campstyles - sorry I\'m just now getting to reading up on how my friends are doing...my bad. I totally agree with Eric. It takes some people several attempts to overcome alcoholism. It took me going to jail and getting serioius criminal charges against me to \"show me the light\" so to speak. You would have thought I would have quit when my hubby was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver because of alcohol.....No...not me...to damn dumb! What I\'m saying is, we all falter, but we get back up and try again. If you have the will baby, you can do anything. Get whatever support you think you need. Everyone is a little different, but they have the same goal! That\'s where I\'m right behind you all the way. However I can help, I\'ll do! Even when you want to \"vent\", I\'ll listen. Girl, I\'m here for you!!
