marriage

At 4:00P.M. this afternnon a child who has become a man will take another step forward on his stairway of life.  My oldest stepson will marry his girlfriend of the past two years.  Im very proud of them both and even more proud that I am to be a part of such a joyous occasion.  With the advent of my stbxs divorce I was pretty sure I would be just an after thought on todays events, but through a twist of fate, I will escort my wife down the aisle for this ceremony one last time, Might I add she is not receptive to this idea.    I must reiterate my happiness for the bride and groom, and there son, and while there is no blood relation, today I officially become a grandfather.  A very ambitious young man of 7, this liitle guy has been respectfully referring to me as Grandpa Randy Sir for about three mnths.  I guess his new father has worn off on him just a bit.  I pray this day unfolds as planned and there are no serious altercations.  In the church where the cple is to wed one side of the room will be my daughter-in-laws family. Onthe other side will be my soon to be ex-in-laws, It goes without saying I will set in the middle and hope that my being there does not cause too much animosity for the grroms side of the family.  I can do nothing about that feeling of regret I have or the resentment that my ex family has towards me.  I am solely at this life event to honor my son and his new family. Had our relationship been a strained one, I probably would not be going, Im very proud to say myson, my daughter -in-law and grandson are proud for me to be attending and would have it no other way.  So to all that read this, think to yourself that feeling you had the day you said "I Do" remember the butterflies and the anticipation. And If you will ask a prayer for this marriage that they will make it, cause it is so easy to quit and give up and in this day and age even easier to not even try.
