Making Pies

Today I had a good day. I got to spend some time with my mom since she had the day off. She has to work tomorrow and Saturday, but she only has to go in for a couple hours on Saturday. Today was fun. I got to practice driving again, and I did okay. It's my first time behind the wheel in months, so I needed some help with how the steering wheel works going backwards. I get left and right confused sometimes, so going in reverse is hard for me. I'm getting better at it, though, and hopefully I can practice more tomorrow. I also made a pecan pie for the first time (I hope it came out good, I didn't get to try it since it is a gift) and a coconut vanilla pie. The coconut vanilla pie came out good... I got to eat some of the leftovers from it. We went out to dinner tonight, Mexican food. It was pretty good, and I'm actually over my calories for the day. I think it's because I had the rich Mexican food and a doughnut for breakfast.
So food today was good. I was only a bit over my calories, and since I've been under for so long, I'm going to be okay. I ate a lot of heavy foods today, but it's okay. I'm going to go for my walk tomorrow. I was supposed to go today, but I didn't get a chance to. I hope it doesn't rain, but even if it does I will still go for a short walk at least. The park next to my mom's house (about a half mile away) has a bunch of trees and stuff up for Christmas, so I want to walk down there and look at all the trees. There are about 75 trees, all in memory of someone or dedicated to a family. Some have pictures, some are decorated with snowmen, and all this other cool stuff. We drove by there today, but I would love to get to look at them up close. My mom works tomorrow, so I have all day to go down there. I don't know yet if my mom's husband works tomorrow or not. I should be able to sleep all night and feel good tomorrow.
I slept good last night. I got about 13 hours of sleep, and so I feel good. I normally don't sleep that much when I'm here at my mom's but I did anyway today. I think it's because I was so tired from not sleeping the other night when I was on the train, that my body wanted to make up for it. I got here last night and just went to bed. I was so tired. I'm still tired now, but I'm more awake today. Last night I managed to make it through the night without having to use the bathroom or get out of bed at all. It was nice to be able to sleep the night through.
Mood today was good... I had fun making the pies with Joy, my mom's mother in law. Joy was teaching me how to make her grandmother's version of pecan pie. I also got to help her make the other pie, the vanilla coconut pie. After that, I went with my mom to go get herself a pedicure. She needs one because she can't cut her thick toenails by herself, she needs special tools. She has very thick nails, and I have thin ones. She said she used to use the Sally Hanson Hard as Nails polish all the time so it strengthened her nails, but I think it's more than that. I think it has to do with how much milk and calcium she gets. I don't drink nearly as much milk as she does. I drink a lot of water instead. It was nice to get to spend that time with her while she was getting her nails done. I wish I could have gotten a pedicure as well, but I choose not to so my mom would have money to buy me something else, like a carry on luggage that I would need for my trip to LA. I have a full sized luggage, but I want something more to be able to take with me for my 3 weeks in Los Angeles.
I can't believe that it's almost time for me to go to LA. I go in a couple weeks now. I'm excited about it. I get to see the rest of my family and everything. I also get to see a bunch of my friends. I've been telling people since I got my tickets that I'm going to LA so we can schedule some time to hang out. I know that people are excited that I'm going to be in LA soon, and I share that excitement. I'm not feeling as homesick as I normally do this year. I think it's because I know that I'm going to be going home soon, and not only that, right now I'm with my mom, so I'm with family. I'm glad I get to spend Christmas with my mom. It's been so long since I was with my mom for Christmas. So far her husband has been behaving as well. I'm looking forward to Christmas again this year. I can't wait!
