Making Lemonade
What's that old saying about lemons and making lemonade? Well, I'm doing my version of that. It started when I ended up with my Dad's dog. I'm on a fixed income and had no idea how I would feed an extra mouth, even if the extra mouth was covered in fur. I knew right away I'd have to cut my budget. I wasn't too happy about that and carried on for at least a week. Then I realized there was no point in complaining. I love my dad's dog and at nearly 6, I knew few would want him.
I ended up cutting my budget in a very interesting way. I did it with the help of my dogs. Basically, I lowered the thermostat setting. Now it's at 66 during the day, sometimes lower. To be honest, I've always enjoyed a cooler house, but even I would admit this was pushing it. But that's where my dogs come in. I wear thick sweaters and we all cuddle up on the sofa. The heat from their bodies keep me warm and sometimes I actually end up sweating. I cut my food budget too and am finally losing weight. All in all, a small sacrifice to make for my remarkable fur balls. By the way the new addition to my family is nick named Taz which is short for Tazmanian devil. He more than lives up to his name.

Taz will make up for your small sacrifices in a multitude of ways. He will be a true blessing and you have been to him.
God bless you for putting your fur balls first.
I layer clothes (if still cold I cover up with a blanket) as I lowered my thermostat a few years back, as I knew I couldn\'t afford big electric bills, plus I have a fuse box, so I take the fuse out for the hot water heater and that really lowered my electric bill, (if I remember) I plug it in for 1 hour a day (usually at 9 p.m. as that is off peak time) lol, but I have taken a few cool showers....I\'ve thought about hot water on demand heaters but, that\'s about as far as that went...a thought. Funny what we will do or do without to keep our fur babies, take care and stay warm....hugs, Sandi
I currently have five furballs and they certainly do keep me warm when we cuddle. Actually get hot at times. lol Good for you for keeping your dad\'s dog. They are such a blessing. Michele
