Making It Through
A friend of mine is struggling with grieving for her son. My heart hurts for her. It got me thinking about how I handle it. I don't always handle it well. I don't think anyone does particularly... but we keep trying... That is as it should be... That is life... For me some days are better than others. I wish I could offer you sure answers for every time the pain approaches but I simply don't know because what helps one time might not the next time. A few things that help most consistently... Praying is helpful sometimes more than others... sometimes the peace is very deep and comforting... and I think praying longer might be the answer when it doesn't seem to be helping... My patience has always been short.. *Smile* Mama used to jokingly say that her most ernest prayer for me was that the Lord would grant me paience... in a hurry... and that brings me to another thing that helps me often... Memories... I've got so many of those.... I am lucky to have the ability to remember things so clearly but if I need prompting pictures seem to do that for me... I'll look at a picture of Cara and I can almost see her as she was then... I don't have very many pictures of mama but I can still see her in my mind's eye and hear her voice... I miss her very much but I'm grateful for her memory... and that reminds me of another thing that helps me.. I work to remember how grateful I am for all that I had and have... and most of all finally to know they are fine... better than fine its wonderful there on the other side.... Hugs Elissa

I too pray often and like you, patience has always been my downfall but I\'m starting to have a lot more of it and it\'s coming very easily. I\'m so happy we continue to have memories and those can never be taken from us. Much love. Robin
I have a horrible lack of patience lately, whereas I use to be very patient, not so much anymore! Prayer seem to be what helps me, along with journaling and the advice and help of my friends here. Sending you hugs Elissa! Vera
((((Elissa)))) You are so right, what helps one time may not help the next time...sometimes, for me, nothing helps and I simply have to endure rather than handle it. Memories seem to come more easily now, and not with the intense pain that accompanied them in the beginning. More of the sweet times occupy my thoughts, less of the horror of *that* night. Wishing you sweetest memories of your beautiful Cara. Love you.
