Making It Through
A friend of mine is struggling with grieving for her son. My heart hurts for her. It got me thinking about how I handle it. I don't always handle it well. I don't think anyone does particularly... but we keep trying... That is as it should be... That is life... For me some days are better than others. I wish I could offer you sure answers for every time the pain approaches but I simply don't know because what helps one time might not the next time. A few things that help most consistently... Praying is helpful sometimes more than others... sometimes the peace is very deep and comforting... and I think praying longer might be the answer when it doesn't seem to be helping... My patience has always been short.. *Smile* Mama used to jokingly say that her most ernest prayer for me was that the Lord would grant me paience... in a hurry... and that brings me to another thing that helps me often... Memories... I've got so many of those.... I am lucky to have the ability to remember things so clearly but if I need prompting pictures seem to do that for me... I'll look at a picture of Cara and I can almost see her as she was then... I don't have very many pictures of mama but I can still see her in my mind's eye and hear her voice... I miss her very much but I'm grateful for her memory... and that reminds me of another thing that helps me.. I work to remember how grateful I am for all that I had and have... and most of all finally to know they are fine... better than fine its wonderful there on the other side.... Hugs Elissa
