Making it one day at a time

I am on day 53 of being gambling free or should I say of "losing money"  I am still doing the "pretend" gambling on facebook - the slot machines etc.  I have never spent any money on these games, but still can spend hours of time playing stupid facebook games.  Any of you have this problem?  I feel like I am still gambling without money, because it is just numbing to play.  I believe I need to quit that too.  Any advice?

Congratulations on making it 53 days! That\'s a wonderful accomplishment, so keep up the good work. As for stopping the hours of game-playing, I would suggest finding another activity to replace it. My philosophy is that it\'s not enough to just eliminate negative things in one\'s life, rather one must replace the negative with something positive. Some suggestions would be to join a senior center with activities, volunteer someplace such as a hospital or animal shelter, work at a homeless shelter, or help to feed the hungry. If you have some crafting hobbies, work on them and possibly sell the end products online or at a local consignment shop. Best wishes to you.

Thank you and I know you are right! It has become such a habit (or addiction) to turn on the computer as soon as I get up and play for hours! I will take it one day at a time just like all my addictions! Thanks for your encouragement.

Congratulations on 53 days!!!! I know, I can\'t play the games on line, including free games on facebook, I wont even watch it on TV. Too many triggers for me, and I really want to safe guard my recovery.

Thanks for the comments! You are right - must stop all gaming; with or without money involved.

I am on day 2; a friend asked me to go to dinner on Friday and I planned for 2 days how to go gamble after and not lose my ass again. So I am telling you all that I \"relapsed\"; don\'t even know if that is the right word. I didn\'t do the kind of damage money wise that I usually do, but I stayed out until 3 a.m. and I only stopped because the oxygen that I am on 24/7 ran out and I thought I was going to die right there at the machine! Now that is how dumb this addiction turns me into. I did have another tank in the car and was smart enough to go get it and just come home instead of going back in the casino. I had no idea how much money was in my purse; that doesn\'t matter though, does it - I lost my dignity and my promises to myself. I think I am hopeless at this point. I really don\'t want anyone to know and am almost ready to erase this........what to do

I am still hanging in there. Don\'t know what day I am on? Does it matter? Sure it does. I closed all credit cards as I was taking cash advances and am at the point of no return. I still want to gamble, but have no money to go! I make sure when I get my retirement check, I pay everything first and have so little left that it isn\'t worth it. How dumb that sounds!
