Making Headway

3 Steps forward-- 1 step back... Isn't that how it goes???

My brother in law and brother have been here the past few days while I was working, doing some work here at the house.  BIL has been a Godsend. Checking into things and fixing and uncovering issues, but still plugging along.  I should take a page from his book. He's uncovered issues that have caused more work to get them fixed right but it does not phase him.

Tonight I went to get taxes done. Most people go to see how much money they are getting back. I went with the hope of getting some sort of refund (That will inevitably go toward the error on the 2016 IRS form) Good news and bad-- She estimated two ways-- 1 excluding my excused debt from taxable income-- the other for my peace of mind in case that too is  included. Either way I will see something back.   I was a bit frustrated as she started quizzing me on a worksheet to see if it could be excluded as taxable income. And. once again could feel myself tearing up as I thought , once again-- just another thing to lead me to 3 more to  get done.  I think I am the only person I know who comes home with HOMEWORK!   (sarcastic grin)

So I have yet another list to accomplish tomorrow. But I am making progress.  Getting rid of things here and there. (Thinking maybe these lists are something to preoccupy me to keep me busy?)  Those quiet times when I can reflect and think do bring about that sadness... but there have been moments of relief and new found freedom as well. Still a see saw...   but that's ok.

I applaud you for just keeping on. I heard someone on the radio today talking about how it's more difficult to obey God in the daily details of life than it is in the big challenges and emergencies. I think that's true. At a time in my life when I was quite overwhelmed, I started making a list of what I was able to do, rather than a list of what I wanted to accomplish. At the end of the day, I was encouraged to see that I really had gotten a lot done. It sounds like you could make an equally positive list. May God continue to help you through each day. And I wish you a good night of sleep now.

Progress! Truly things are happening. I think feeling varying emotions at any given moment is very much ok.

hey Kim....I borrowed a book from Pastor on Guam that has that title....Three steps forward two steps back.....I do not know the author and I read only part of it....but that seems to be what happens at times in life....right now I am dealing with three steps forward....when will the shoe drop and I need to step backwards?

glad you get some money back....I just got my state refund today....$469.....so I called the painter and went and bought my paint for him to paint the bathroom after repairs to ceiling and wall where water damages are and paint for the kitchen....got the paint too for the ceilings and the woodwork thru the whole house.....I spent $216 but $10 of that was grocery at Menards and a $25 portion was a curtain rod....paint is not cheap....the painter will schedule a day to come....

Anyway....glad you wrote about things....helps to get support in those steps backwards does it not? ;-0)

Bill-- yes it does. Gives me a chance to look back and reflect and as you ALL say-- to see progress and feel better about the accomplishment (as well as the blessings so easily overlooked when bogged down with details and grief. )

Life is cyclical. The bad days never last and good things often come out of bad situations but we may not see it at the time....

God Bless

Glad to hear you are making some progress. The varying emotions will happen and that’s ok. Just keep going one day at a time. You are a stronger than you think.
