Making Good Progress

I've decided it would be therapeutic to keep a journal of my psychological experiences, and where better to do it than where people with similar conditions can share their ideas.
I would say that my OCD has been very well controlled lately. Six months ago I had to stay in my room with the door closed for extended periods of time, lost nearly twenty pounds, had numerous panic attacks, had frequent insomnia and was paralyzed by constant disturbing intrusive thoughts. Today, I have gained a significant portion of weight, haven't had a panic attack in weeks, felt much more comfortable interacting with my family and friends, and done a great job of controlling the anxiety and managing the OCD obsessions and compulsions.
Needless to say I am not cured, and a lot of this benefit has been due to medications. I recently switched from Prozac to Luvox, as Prozac was causing hyperactivity and insomnia (a shame because it actually worked pretty well), and I heard that Luvox was one of the best medicines for OCD.
The one drawback though is that I have had numerous depressive episodes. On more than one occasion, I broke down into tears for simple things, and felt like I was going to many more times. Sometimes I just want to sleep all day because I feel like I have nothing to do. Unfortunately, I have to fight suicidal obsessions that wreak havoc with my OCD as well. I think the main reason for all of these issues is that I need to get out of the house more. I've been sitting around on the computer and watching TV for too long.
In the meantime, my outlook is positive. My main goal going forward is to rely more on my own intellect to combat my OCD and depression, rather that drugs. Of course I'm okay with taking meds, but I'm tired of depending on them for relief, and I don't want to take them all of my life. Thankfully, I'm starting to make some great breakthroughs with my therapist.
Until the next entry!
