Making Choices
In the early years of my diagnosis it didn't stop me from doing anything. I still Lifeguarded over the summers, ran, outrigger canoed, etc. When physical challenges started affecting my mobility, I began to live in fear. I look back with some regret over the wasted moments fear stopped me from enjoying my life. I progressed considerably these past 3 years. Gone from walking and working with a cane, to using a scooter to work and a walker at home. Life is very challenging. What I have learned is this. That the choice is mine. What I decide to do each day is mine. I can choose to live in fear or I can choose joy. By choosing joy each day, the quality of my life has improved so much that I am happier than I have ever been , despite not having mobility. I realize we all have different processing of issues, and Lord knows I stressed out early on. But what I would wish for any one suffering with MS or other diseases is that they count the blessings we have each day. I look at thew topics on the MS support page and often don't open them up because the focus is on what we have lost, the fear, and anger. I just refuse to give in to all those emotions. My glass is half full. My means for measuring have changed, but there is still joy to be found despite MS. It robs us of things we used to do , but it can't rob me of joy.

You have a wonderful attitude. Looks like you had to learn the hard way but we seem to learn better that way. Thank you for sharing this.
