Made it to Westcliffe
Been here in the mountains since the 4th. This place is beautiful. A great home w/ a deck that goes all the way around the house. The Sangre de Cristo mountains and Wets mountains can be seen in the distance... and a great valley below. So muchwildlife here... I've seen cattle here on the ranch, birds of all kinds, coyote and man do they get wild in the night.... there are llamas, donkeys and longhorned cattle here on th eranch. So nice and green.
I didn't prepare for the cold... i didn't bring enough clothing for the cold weather.
The little town is just great. i like the size of it. there were a lot of ppl in town this weekend, so i will wait until during the week to go down and look around. a very cute little down. .... about the size of IS or Georgetown.
It's vigger than you think. I love it.
The house sits at 9000 feet altitute....
very very nice. I will be here 3 weeks.

I'm not feeling ambitious enough to follow the clues, but the hot, dusty South Plains day ahead has the thought of any mountains absolutely divine. The equatorial Andes Mountains are my faves of the mountain ranges I have visited. There the climate varies more by altitude than season. 12 hour days, 12 nights, 12 months a year. Today I am mentally touring the mid-ranges where the altitude is enough to enjoy cooler temperatures but low enough for a low-lander like me to breathe easily.
Thank you for the reminder that I can mentally travel to gentler environs. Enjoy your vacay.
Okay, okay. . . My curiosity was intense enough to use it as an excuse to postpone my field work. Turns out I have played tourist in that stretch of mountains. Purty purty purty. I've spent more time in the Andes, though. Much easier visualization for me. I even have friends there.
