Survived Karina's birthday. I had to be strong as my 26 year old was having a bad day coping. sooooo Put a wreath and decorations on her grave, both for birthday and for the holidays. Rest in Peace sweet child of mine
But you did survive Karina\'s birthday and you will continue to survive. This will be our third Christmas without Corrie and I can tell you that it\'s a lot easier this year. The first year? Could not tolerate music, happy people, decorations, presents, trees. It all seemed like a cruel joke ~ how on earth could people be celebrating anything?? For the first time this year I can walk into stores with holiday displays without being overcome by physical pain and I\'m beginning to enjoy some of the holiday music ~ though it certainly does not bring the same thrill and anticipation as in our \"before\" lives.
I\'m glad you were able to be there for your 26 year old. Sometimes people forget the siblings ~ my husband and I have made a conscious effort to always remember that Corrie\'s two sisters are suffering just as much ~ and it has paid off. We are all scarring over and better able to cope and even to smile and laugh.
You survived one first and now you can keep on keeping on ~ one breath/one moment/one day at a time. Be gentle with yourself, love yourself and forgive yourself.
Sending much love and big tight hugs of peace and comfort ~ Debbie
We always have to be strong for someone else..especially if a sibling is having a bad day.....it will be back and forth..one helping the other for as long as it takes....I know there will be peace in your hearts and minds one day...I just put Brandon\'s Christmas flowers on his niche...I have a hard time looking at his name in a plaque when his name should have been up in lights or on a plaque for living and achieving...but as has always been the case, he achieved going to Heaven before any of us in our immediate family...just as he has achieved other things in life....I know none of have happiness taking flowers to the graves of our children...when we would rather they be with us...peace and..love, dale...brandon\'s mom
My daughter\'s 24th birthday was a little over a month after her passing. I know very well how difficult this is. My heart goes out to you. You did the right thing by staying strong for your 26 year old. Your sweet child is in the arms of God. May you one day be blessed with a vision of this.
You did make it and it takes strength and courage... I understand how all the \"firsts\" felt for me and to be able to breathe through them and come out on the other side is truly something... You did it and so did your daughter. Remember how the day felt on those days leading up to another \"first\" and perhaps it might help you to remember that you did and can do it again. It seems to be the cycle of our lives now as parents of a child who is no longer with us in the way that we so wish they could be.
Gentle and caring (((hugs))) for all who love Karina.
XO Joanie
So imperative to the human being is the measurement of time. Anticipation of these dates, then the date itself, and then we fall into pieces. You got through this date and now is the time to be gentle to yourself. Have a cup of tea, a hot bath, something you enjoyed in \"the before days.\"
With love,
Leda
I feel so much of your sorrow, as I would do anything humanly possible to lift the grief from my other son. Knowing he grieves is harder than my own loss, in so many ways. And then oh lordy there\'s the worry... we \'only\' have each other now! Yipes. The whole thing can spiral into the dark. :*( but then I calm myself, and I offer myself love, and breathe, and come back to the present. What is the truth, this very minute? It is this: Andy is at peace. Byron is alive and doing ok. I am ok too. Grateful beyond the beyond, for all the love and support from near and far. Please know I am sending you a deep scoop of compassion. We\'ll get through this month... one day at a time. Can\'t do it all at once. Wouldn\'t be a good idea in any way!!!
Love, Sarah

Yes we do have to be strong for our other child. It\'s hard I know. Terry
