mad at doctor

The last few days have been fairly good.  I cooked black-eyed peas (for luck), ham, green peas, and carrots for New Year's day dinner.  Thur. night I walked 8 or 9 tenths of a mile, with my husband and our dogs.  Yes, I'm crazy.  We walked into the driving wind, in the dark freezing cold night, down our dead-end country road past where the road ends.

I had an appt Friday with my neurologist.  He wasn't a happy camper.  You see, I've been a bad girl, by doctors' standards.  My neuro fell and broke his hip back in the summer, so he's been kind of out of the loop, and just out of it (on pain meds) at my last apt with him in Oct.
Back in June 2010, he put me on blood pressure meds as soon as we found out that I'd had a stroke, as a means of preventing future strokes, even though my blood pressure is on the low side. (I don't think blood pressure had anything to do with my stroke).   After starting on the meds my blood pressure would go as low as 82/54 sometimes.  My PCP said he didn't think I needed the bp meds, so I quit taking them.
Friday, my neuro asked who'd been prescribing the bp meds while he's been on the mend.  I told him no one had.  He said, "WHAT?"  I look him square in the eye and said, "No one."  He didn't take my answer very well.  He wrote lots of prescriptions for me  and ordered me to take my pills.
I've lost over 10 pounds since my last visit and my bp was 108/74 today (with no bp meds and after a long drive in a bad mood!).  I think I'm going to get a second opinion.

I would definitely get a second opinion! Doesn\'t the evidence of your current blood pressure convince him that you don\'t need the pills? You must be frustrated with him right now. Glad you were able to enjoy a brisk walk and a good dinner.
