Mad at daughters school.
I just found out tonite, that when the school threw my daughter's book bag away, that they threw everything inside of the book bag away as well.
So there went almost all of my daughter's school supplies for the year. Yeah sure the principle apologized for the fact that I had to contact the school MYSELF to find out what happened. But that don't replace all those school supplies that we CAN'T afford to replace. Just because the majority of families in this school can apparently bend over and shit money left and right don't mean we can. We live on a very restrictive budget, and god I can't remember when we last went out to eat, much less rented a movie because of trying to make ends meet.
So I wrote a letter to the principal letting him know that not only do I expect the school to replace her book bag with one of comparative value to the one thrown away, but I expect them to replace all of her school supplies that were in the book bag, and that I expect them to help replace her study notes that she needs to take tests here in the next couple of days with. And that even if she has to come in during her track out time, that I expect them to give her time to study for said tests and THEN come in to do the tests. They know that we are economically disadvantaged right now, and I minced no words when I wrote to him and told him that having to personally replace her school supplies is a financial hardship that this family just cannot bear. Sadly, she also had a necklace from her now deceased great grandmother that they refused to let her retrieve. But I cannot ask for compensation for that, as I have no clue what it's value was, and I had asked her several times not to bring items like that to school, due to fears of it becoming lost or stolen.
I do sincerely hope that all this will serve as a lesson to the school, so that no other parent or child has to endure the difficulty we have had to deal with, because of lack of communication. Despite the apology, I'm still so mad I can't see straight. I just hope that I don't wind up having to take the school to court to get my daughter's school supplies replaced. It would just be ridiculous if they refuse, and to be honest, I don't think they had the right to throw her stuff away without having notified the parent first.
