machine challenged
I have so come to the conculsion my husband and I are machine challenged. Starting yesterday the machines have turned on us.
The oxygen consentrator quit on us. The oxygen company can't come to fix or replace said machine until Monday, in the mean time we are oxygenless. Our oxygen company is one and a half hours away. And WILL NOT make a special trip to the edge of Death Valley to take care of our machine. We are desperately trying to convince our insurance company that it would be benificial to all parties to use a company closer to home, our home that is. One that is five minutes away. Hummmmmmm let me see. Five minutes verses 1 1/2 hours. Access to help/repair 24/7 verses we should be able to see to it on Monday. A new machine that doesn't need cleaned or messed with for two years verses one that is suppose to be, but is not, checked out every three months. However the insurance company seems to be stalling. Pehaps they are thinking we will both die soon and then they don't have to make a decision. Seeeems to me, the decision shouldn't be that difficult. No matter which oxygen company is used the insurance company still has to pay. Oh, my gosh, like wow!!!!!!!
But the local oxygen company did come out to check our machine. HUUUUUMMMMM. Not their responsiblity but they did it anyway. It's dead. (The machine) The patient liason said that since they had prescriptions for our oxygen she could leave a machine. No charge to any one for the weekend. I tried to decline this generous offer but she informed us she would not sleep a wink if we said no. So we said yess and everyone slept semi-peacefully.
Then-----------------------Our son came over to put insulation in the attic. Den and Ken went to the Hardware Store from which we did not buy the insulation to rent the machine to blow the stuff in the attic. Everyone will be wearing their Darth Vader masks for this project. However even though they reserved the machine for us to use today. Their policy is that you can't rent the machine from them unless you buy the insulation from them. Huh? So home they come already knowing that in this one horse town the other hardwear store, where we did buy the insulatin, no longer has the machine to blow the stuff in the attic.( Then why are they selling it?) The son gets on the phone to talk to the manager informing him that their advertisement said that there was free rental of this machine with purhase and it would be nice if they could find us one or would they like the $700.+ worth of insulation back. OOOOKKKK!!!!They found one. In that same said town 1 1/2 hours away. We can have free rental on that one. OONNLLYY we have to go get it. So the son and Granddaughter head out. Which upsets the husband because now son is taking responsiblity for some thing that should be his. But he no longer feels safe driving long distances with out his oxygen and the Dr. is suppose to call today----sometime. It really must be awful for someone who has always been total independant to suddenly admit they can no longer do things.
Soooooo this free rental will only cost us $200.+ (Gas for my Pick-um-up truck, and Lunch for the son and granddaughter for a round trip twice.) Plus the aggravation. However all things considered the only thing really lost is time. The rent on the machine would have ran about the same monies.
But ya know in retospect it ain't really the machines that are frustrating us. It's the peoples in charge of said machines.
Well, I feel better for writing this and I didn't go have a smoke to vent everything out. Since you can't see me I want to let anyone who has made it this far know I have laughed and giggle though most of this writing. I just need to see in print to see the humor in it.
