Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvxLsZ9Myo0 Lyrics: House got too crowded clothes got too tightAnd I don't know just where I'm going tonightOut where the sky's been cleared by a good hard rainThere's somebody callin' my secret nameI'm going down to Lucky TownGoing down to Lucky TownI wanna lose these blues I've foundDown in Lucky TownDown in Lucky TownHad a coat of fine leather and snakeskin bootsBut that coat always had a thread hangin' looseWell I pulled it one night and to my surpriseIt led me right past your house and on over the riseI'm going down to Lucky TownDown to Lucky TownI'm gonna lose these blues I've foundDown in Lucky TownDown in Lucky TownI had some victory that was just failure in deceitNow the joke's comin' up through the soles of my feetI been a long time walking on fortune's caneTonight I'm steppin' lightly and feelin' no painWell here's to your good looks baby now here's to my healthHere's to the loaded places that we take ourselvesWhen it comes to luck we make our ownTonight I got dirt on my hands but I'm building me a new homeDown in Lucky TownDown in Lucky TownI'm gonna lose these blues I've found Actually, this song's relevance was brought to light slowly over a long time.  It wasn't until my Beloved and I were together that the whole became clear. The first verse was applicable to my life when I was first becoming friends with the beautiful soul that ultimately became my Beloved.  The crowded house, tight clothes, and not knowing where I was going that night were symbolic of my (then) current situation.  The restriction, lack of control, and the "closed in" feeling of my relationship with my (then) wife were just becoming apparent.  I was beginning to desire a new place, a place that was open and free, cleared of all the sham and fear.  I thought at that time a "new" me was emerging.  That was another misperception twisted by my beliefs at that time.  What was emerging was the real me; and that gentle soul was calling to the real me; calling my secret, yet true, name.  Because, as I was soon to discover, we were more than cut from the same cloth.  We were of the same fibers. The second verse parallels and continues the first over several months.  I had plenty of disposable cash, even though my inheritance was mostly lost on her businesses and finally wiped out in a bankruptcy we filed to get out from under a lawsuit from a former storefront landlord.  I was making pretty good money and she was making half again more than me.  Together we were grossing close to 6 figures a year.  It was nothing to drop 2 - 3 thousand on something like an exercise machine or fancy mattress.  That was my coat of fine leather and snakeskin boots.  But the lousy relationship was the thread hanging loose and when I finally pulled it, it led me right out of her (as it ended up being) house, over the rise and to a new life. Yeah, like the third verse said, I had some "victories" which were really just disguised failures.  She and I talked often and at length about things going on with me, what I wanted to do, what I liked to do, the changes that were coming over and passing through me.  Although she had no understanding of any of it and was quite dubious about parts of it, she said the right things to make me believe she was supportive of me and my desires.  Yet she would later give actions that would give lie to all her words.  Everytime I felt I could make progress, she would yank the rug out from under me.  Yet I kept leaning on my very good financial situation, fortune's cane, because I didn't want to give that security up.  However, once I'd made the break, life was very much better and the emotional pain of all the restrictions was gone. So I finally decided to take my life into my own hands, I made my own luck, and began building a new home with my Beloved.  And I lost the blues.
