Love those days off!
Ah, another day off from work! Every year I have excess vacation at the end of the year, so starting in September, I take every Friday off until this end of the year. This year I still have some left over, so I'm also taking off some additional days. In fact, Tuesday will be the only day I work this whole week!
I'm so anxious to retire! I'll be 63 in March, so I'm hoping to hang in there another 3 years, if my health will let me. I would love to retire now, but I think that financially that would be a huge mistake.
This morning I ate pancakes and bacon at IHOP, and then went to Target just to look around and try to get some walking in. When I finished walking the building and got back in my car, I felt totally exhausted! My heart was racing, and although I didn't feel extremely SOB, it was enough for me to notice I was breathing harder. I honestly believe it's not only the emphysema, but also weight gain and lack of regular exercise. I'm really starting to feel my age now, which I hate. I can't really blame age though, because I went to dinner Saturday night with a 71 year old who runs half marathons (OK, she doesn't actually run, it's just fast walking, but it's still more than I can do).
I've been having a lot of blood sugar lows lately, the last one at work last week. I got busy and forgot to eat a mid-morning snack. Next thing I knew, I started shaking. When I tested myself, my blood sugar was down to 47. I've never had it that low, and it kind of scared me. I started seeing black spots and was afraid I was going to pass out. Fortunately, I was able to get a soft drink and get the blood sugar back up in no time, but this one really worried me. I've never had it happen at night, but I do worry about that, wondering if I would wake up or just fall into a coma. I used to say that when I have to go, I'd rather go in bed...just fall asleep and never wake up. I still think that's probably the easiest way to go. I just don't want to do it right now!!!
OK, that's enough paranoia for today! I'm going to enjoy my day off!
