Love is timeless

The human life expectancy in the 1950s is around 50, and now around 80-- 30 years in difference, thanks to the meidical community, which is often considered one of most significant achievements of humans. What does that mean in a cosmic term?
The age of earth is 4.5 billion years. If you believe scientists, our ancestors have been around for about 6 million years, the modern form of humans only evolved about 200,000 years ago.  Imagine we are watching a 2-hour movie, 6 million in 4.5 billion is about 10 second, 200,000 years in 4.6 billion is less than 1 second (0.32 second). This means that, in watching this movie, we don’t even notice the human history. It is there, but it is so short and insignificant. 30 years in that movie? It is 0.000048 second. It is NOTHING, really. (BTW, the Milky Way is 13.2 billion years old)
My wife died at age 54, and she could have lived up to 84….30 years more but she didn't. Of course I would love to hold her for other 30 years. But in reality, 30 years is NOTHING, EXCEPT you are living it. Life is such an interesting thing. Only when do we have this cosmic perspective, which is to say that only when we KNOW we are so insignificant, that we realize how  SIGNIFICANT our experiences are. We realize that it is NOT about how long we live, but how much we live through, with our loved ones. It is about experiencing love…about how much we love and be loved. The essence of the human story is love. Love makes time stop, and love makes us humane. We have love with our loved one, regardless of 1 year or 20 years. In the grand sense of the universe, it doesn't matter. We have it. Nothing else matters.

Reading your journal makes me more determined to really live my remaining years. To be as happy and content as I possibly can be. It really is up to us. I could easily live another 25 or 30 years. I am forever grateful to have had the over 30 years I had with Ron. We hurt because we loved so deeply. Some people never experience that deep love. Thank you for reminding me what my goal is. Love, Diane
