Lots goin' on continued

Here it is, just 3 days after having the noisy air conditioner compressor on the van replaced and the replacement is now making noise.  Not like the original, but it squeaks.  Back to Poop Boys whenever I can fit it in.  Hope they don't keep it another 5 days. The day we picked up my Beloved's mother from rehab they told us that home healthcare HAD to come out within 24 hours of release for Medicare to pay for it.  Geez, nothing like a little warning.  So the appointment was made and kept the next morning (Wednesday).  Thursday morning the Occupational Therapist came over.   Thursday at noon we get a call saying that the rehabs doctor is a hospital doctor and could not authorize home healthcare beyond her release from the facility.  Therefore, in order for Medicare to continue to cover it, she needs for her primary care physician to order it.  Hmmm.  She has no primary care physician.  So, it's Thursday noon.  I have just gotten back from an eye appointment to take measurements for my upcoming cataract surgery.  Friday afternoon my Beloved has an eye exam where they will dialate her eyes so I have to drive.  Saturday and Sunday the doctor's office is closed.  Monday afternoon I have another eye exam where they will dialate my eyes so I have to be driven. The home healthcare people reluctantly agreed to let the PCP requirement slip until Teusday.  Luckily, we can get her in to see my doctor on that day.  Looks like half days at work for a while yet. I feel like we are walking blindly on the edge of a precipice.  Whenever we get a little too close someone tosses us a breadcrumb to lead us away from it.  I hope we don't miss one of those, otherwise Medicare will quit paying and things will get very expensive very fast.  I cannot understand why nobody told us of all these surprises beforehand. On the up side, Mom's doing great.  She's up and around during the day.  My Beloved takes care of her breakfast and fixes her lunch.  I take lunch to her on my way back to work (I have lunch at home).  Together we fix our supper and hers, then take hers over when we're done eating.  Still don't have all the logistics fine tuned, but it looks like a very promising schedule.  We got her one of those pill caddies that has compartments for Morning, Noon, Evening, and Bedtime for each day of the week.  Perfect for her med regimen.   Little by little we are getting her apartment set up for her, as well as cleaned up from the total mess she made as she deteriorated back in May.  She has a second bedroom filled from floor to ceiling with boxes of stuff she's accumulated over the years.  When she was getting sick, she became obsessed with "repacking" them.  As a result, the hall and part of that bedroom was literally knee-deep in packing paper, stuff strewn all over the place (take care wading through the paper because you can't see what you're stepping on), boxes and styrofoam crumbs everywhere.  We went over a few times while she was in rehab to clean up, but we can't tell what's good and what isn't.  In my opinion it is ALL trash, but my trash is probably her treasure.  This weekend we begin the serious sorting and sifting of it all with her.  I have no desire to pack and load anymore than I have to for our move to Oregon.  Guess I should get some work done.  Blessings to everyone.
