Lost my only son to suicide
Lost my son on January 1, 2015. It feels like it's been forever and it feels like it just happened. I dream of him from time to time and sometimes when I wake up I feel really sad. I'm having a hard time today dealing with my loss. People look at me and say "you're doing so well". It only appears that way b/c I'm really hurting.

Hello and welcome to ForMomsOnly. I am so very sorry about your son. I lost my son Alex on May 18,2007. I found the wonderful moms here soon afterwards. You have found a group of moms that understand what it is like to lose a child. It takes another grieving mom to truly understand the sorrow that is felt when you lose a child. Although it will be 9 years in May for me, some days it feels like yesterday. I can go to \"that place\" in a heartbeat. However, through the years I have learned how to live with the loss and I have happiness and joy again. It takes time...so just put one foot in front of the other. For me, writing journals helped...I could write whatever I was feeling and no one was surprised...I hope you will feel comfortable doing this too. Love and gentle hugs...Karen
I am so very sorry you had to join us and to hear about the loss of your son. It has been almost 7 years for me and I come here to find moms who understand me. The first years were so rough and rocky. Life is better now and I am finally able to enjoy life again. I hope you find the companionship and compassion that I have found here.
Sending love and tight hugs,
Leda/MomofJosh
Thank you MomofJosh. I lost my son one year and two months ago. Some days are harder than others but I\'m managing. I was planning on retiring in 2015, but I\'ve decided to continue working until October 2017.
I am SO very sorry for your loss and hope that you will find the lifeline here that I have. I too lost my son, Douglas, in July of 2008, and these wise and very kind women have held my hand and my heart during that time.
Please know that whatever you are feeling is what it needs to be for this moment and that you are grieving your loss in your own way and that there are no timetables. Grief is not a \"disease\" and something that we ever get \"over\" and our culture needs so much help with this.
Gentle care, the warmest of welcomes and again, your loss is still so new, raw and allow yourself so much wiggle room and grace to BE however you need to BE.
Heartfelt (((hugs)))
XO Joanie/Mom of Douglas
