Lost About My Loss

Well, this certainly hasn't turned out the way I thought it would. My below the knee amputation has completely isolated me from the rest of the world.Just showering is a terrifying experience.  I don't even know how to cleanse my private area in the shower because I'm sitting on it.  I'm a very large girl and cannot balance on one leg at all.  I bathe the rest of my body, then transfer to the toilet to clean the rest of me.  I know there has to be a trick to it, but I can't figure it out.  Any suggestions? This may seem like a strange way to start a journal, but it is the most important thing to me right now. Then there is my sleeping problems.  I sent my hospital bed back because I wanted my own bed back home (it was in storage for a couple of months).  I got so used to sleeping in a reclining position that now when I sleep on my flat bed, my back has completely locked up by the time I wake up.  I'm in so much pain. I'm determined to overcome these obstacles.  Please, if anyone out there has any suggestions about these problems -- contact me right away. Thank you so much.

Thank you I do know about bad thoughts and not turning out like we thought it would. But we all got to push on life does not stop for us just because something bad has happen. So good luck and keep up the hard work it will come in time. I have been a amputee for over two years now the first few months was the hardest but it does get better with time.

Try sleeping with a pillow under your knees, to change the way your back is aligned. It can still keep your knees straight, if you do it right, and help your back as well. Also, try side sleeping, or moving about a bit at night.
