Lost 2 lbs. this week -- I'm so happy

Happy Memorial Day weekend to my friends! And heartfelt gratitude to all military personnel, past and present, and their families. Your service has not been in vain.

Lost TWO pounds after one week of doing the acid-foods detox program. At age 67 I don't often lose that much! It's more like half a pound to a pound. So I'm very happy!

I ran out of grapefruits (was eating a whole one every day), but still have lemons. Drinking lemonade made with fresh lemons is recommended as an alternative to grapefruits. Either will do.

Will need to buy some Stevia next time at market. Artificial sweeteners are banned (especially the villainous aspartame), as is adding natural sugar. I still have a bit of Stevia left for now.

It's weird not to be drinking diet soda!!! But not as difficult as I thought. I'd been drinking it for 40 years. But I'm finally convinced it's poison to the body and actually makes us GAIN WEIGHT if it makes our bodies acidic.

I miss dairy also. I made a pact with myself to give it a 6 week trial of no dairy to see if my PAIN LEVELS decrease. This woman claims that dairy also acidifies the body and that adult humans were never intended to drink milk made for baby cows.

Meat is also acidifying, but fish is allowed 3 times per week. For additional protein, nuts and seeds and beans are recommended. Brown rice can be combined with the beans. It is less acidifying than most other grains.

OF COURSE, saturated fat, trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, and MSG are to be avoided. Practically everything packaged, canned, or prepared contains those additives! So fresh whole foods are best.

I was eating almonds every day, but have run out of them. They are a good non-dairy source of CALCIUM and also the best nut for weight loss. Walnuts are good, too, for omega-3 fats.

Blueberries, and other berries, are low in sugar and good for blasting belly fat. A daily green salad is recommended, but watch what kind of dressing you put on it.

Using a "lite" dressing is fine, but don't use one that's entirely fat-free, or the nutrients in the salad can't be absorbed.

Keeping up with the demands of this program is expensive. I can do SOME of the things every day, but not all. I still have to base some of my meals on food from the food bank, so I am still getting some sugar and other additives. But if I can still lose 2 lbs. a week? I must be doing something right!

Love to all.

Congrats on the 2# loss. I would be doing the victory dance if I lost that much in a month...it does come of slower as we age!

Gold star for you. It seems like more of our food that use to be good for us isn\'t any longer. So difficult to know what a person can eat now days and still have a healthy bosy.
